Acerca de esta escucha

This book tells a remarkable true story of bureaucratic assassination during the Trump presidency, revealing in vivid detail how career federal employees thwarted President Trumps efforts to drain the swamp.

Mark Moyar, a senior political appointee at the US Agency for International Development, discovered evidence of corruption involving five career bureaucrats and reported it to agency officials in 2018. Senior bureaucrats orchestrated a sophisticated retaliatory plot, which began when a Special Operations general fraudulently accused Moyar of divulging classified information, and ended with the termination of Moyar's employment.

The bureau that Moyar had been on track to lead, with an annual budget exceeding $300 million, fell into the hands of one of his bureaucratic assassins. The leading perpetrator of the corruption exposed by Moyar subsequently escaped punishment by transferring to another federal agency.

A multi-agency cover-up followed. Moyar sought help from three Offices of the Inspector General—the government's main bulwarks against whistleblower retaliation—but all three conducted flimsy investigations that absolved the bureaucracy. When Senator Charles Grassley demanded that agency officials fill the gaps in the governments story, he was met with lies and evasions.

This suspense-filled drama provides an insider's view of the federal bureaucracy's corruption, its weaponization of bureaucratic procedures, and its failures to protect employees from retaliation. In telling his story, Moyar reveals how future administrations can drain the swamp and draws a roadmap for the restoration of integrity to the United States government.

Deception is correct

I wasn’t surprised by anything in this book. There is a plethora of proof that corruption in the federal government is widespread. The author did a Great Job of telling his story with appropriate emotions and truth. He didn’t attack those who were seeking his destruction. Bravo! Well done!

Must read on government corruption

What an eye opening book. This is an absolute must read for anyone wanting to learn about how the deep state derails anyone that reports wrong doing. What the deep state did to this man is criminal.

Government corruption and retaliation.

This book should resonate for anyone familiar with government agencies. The level of incompetence, where management are the do as I say and not as I do types will infuriate the reader; but not as much as the corruption and retaliation described by the author.
Thankfully, the author lays out pathways in the latter chapters on how these issues may be resolved.

The narration was superb.
I do recommend this book.

Inside Look at Fighting Federal Corruption

Mark's book is an intriguing look into the federal bureaucracy during the Trump presidency. The book explores the administrative state, revealing how entrenched bureaucrats, often Democrats, wield significant influence.

While civil servants appear to be selfless public servants, Mark's story uncovers a different reality. He details how career federal employees thwarted Trump’s efforts to "drain the swamp." Mark turns potentially dry content—like clearance processes and legal proceedings—into an engaging narrative.

I highly recommend this book for individuals wanting to understand the inner workings of the federal bureaucracy, the challenges of combating entrenched corruption, and the complexities of whistleblower retaliation.

And there's the deep state...

Always when you hear overarching statements and sweeping condemnations, you want to see how it really happens. This book shows you how it really happens. It somehow makes bureaucratic machinations riveting, suspenseful and emotionally charged, making it difficult to put down. But, the biggest contribution is to disprove the mainstream media's take on the deep state (i.e. it's not real, but if it is, it's good), showing that actually, their subversion of democracy is pretty mundane - pretty simple to pull off really...not a far-fetched conspiracy theory at all. Where we go from here, I do not know, but this book shows where we are.

Fantastic Book on the Corrupt US Government!

I highly recommend this well-written book. I love how this book flows very well and is easy to listen to! I really liked how Mark Moyar wrote this book like a suspense novel in which I keep wanting to find out what the government would do next to screw up Moyar’s life, just because Moyar was conservative and wanted to do the correct or right thing.

Mark Moyar wrote a fantastic book about the problems he had in both the corrupt liberal college campuses and the liberal Democrats in the Washington swamp.

These liberal, swamp government-people (usually Democrats, but also a few spineless Republicans) try to destroy patriotic Americans like Mark Moyar so that they cannot fix the corruption in government. One way to do this is to destroy the conservative books. The government would not do its job and review Moyar’s book on time. Also, one agency in the government reviewed Moyar’s book and had some comments to put in the book. However, another government agency pass on to Moyar these comments. Then, about two years later, because Moyar did not put these comments in his book, these government swamp creatures took Moyar’s security clearance from him because he did not add the comments into his book. Without a security clearance, Moyar could not work in his government specialties! What a set-up! What corruption!

Moyar talked about how critical it will be to have Republican staff ready if Trump gets re-elected again. Isn’t this what Project 2025 all about??? Why would Trump poo-poo Project 2025 if it would help Trump set up his new staff???

Great listen. The narrator did a fantastic job reading this book.

Truth based on truth…wonderful to see.

Explains in detail the things we don’t see and the cabal within our own government that fights for themselves and not for our country. Loved it and appreciated the wins, losses and the reflections on both.

Why DOGE is necessary to help root out the corruption

The author did a great job of chronicling his hellish journey working in the USAID swamp as a politcal appointee. He breaks down the 4 main employees: contractors(expendables), the political appointees (targets), the bureaucrats (deep rooted burrowed in swamp creatures) and the inspector generals (the enforcement arms of the swamp creatures). He outlines how. As a PA if you try to root out corruption you’re a target of the Bureaucrats who will either slow roll your agenda work to revolk your security clearance, plant false info and circumvent any attempt to improve the agency. Even if you’re an employee with integrity which i dont even see how thats possible, you will be worn down or crushed in the process of keeping the corrupt in power. God help us all.

Our government isn't working for us.

I'm always conflicted by complaints from within organizations when the complainant is an entrenched member. Like a priest complaining about covering up scandal. As Mildred said, "You're culpable man ".
