Resumen del Editor

Prince Roger MacClintock, Tertiary Heir to the Throne of Man, was a spoiled rotten, arrogant, whiny, thoroughly useless young pain in the butt. But that was before an assassination attempt marooned the Royal Brat and his bodyguards on the planet Marduk, and before they had to march half way around the entire planet, through 120-degree heat and five-hour rainstorms in jungles full of damnbeasts, capetoads, killerpillars, and atul-grak, not to mention hostile peoples, to make their way back to port.

Under the right circumstances, even the most spoiled brat can grow up fast, and it turns out that, under his petulant exterior, Prince Roger is a true MacClintock, a scion of the warrior dynasty that created the Empire of Man. Now both prince and bodyguards are determined to get each other off the planet alive. Of course, the planet has other ideas.

Don't miss the rest of the action in the Prince Roger Series.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"[An] admirable continuation...The development of a Mardukan combined-arms force will fascinate sophisticated readers (the manual of arms for a four-armed, 10-foot soldier is a thing of beauty), while the overthrow of the Boman will grip straightforward action lovers in spite of the staggering body count." (Publishers Weekly)
"This fast-paced sequel to March Upcountry continues the odyssey of men and women caught in a struggle for survival and determined to maintain their courage and humor in the face of overwhelming odds. Coauthors Weber and Ringo excel in depicting the lives and times of soldiers both on and off the battlefield." (Library Journal)

Good as the first

The story continues as Roger and marines march on toward the space port. There are more epic battles to come along the way and the writing is as good it is in the first book.

John Ringo and David Weber are perfect!

Would you listen to March to the Sea again? Why?

I absolutely loved the characters in this series.

What other book might you compare March to the Sea to and why?

Any book by John Ringo is worth a listen!!!

Which scene was your favorite?

The most memorable moment for me was when I realized that I wished I could stand and fight alongside Prince Roger, and I no longer just wanted someone to just punch him in the mouth

Any additional comments?

a terrifying journey to manhood surrounded by the wilds of an alien planet.

Among the best series ever!

Excellent military battles, excellent strategic discussions and actions, excellent situational descriptions, stressful cliff hangers, big nasty toothy monstrous beasts, with minimum chick flick, feely, touchy, romance, and general page filler boring junk. This is a great guy book!

Half a book's worth stretched into a full book

I loved the first book in the series, but this one dragged a little. There was an inordinate amount of detail about arms design, military organization, and provisioning that may be entertaining to someone into hard-core military history, but I found quite boring. Also, the total transformation of Prince Roger into a sympathetic character is just a touch unbelievable--I think it would be more entertaining/realistic if he were to lapse every now and then into his old ways, or at least consider it. And finally, the "love story" with Desperaux (sp? of course I'm not sure since I'm listening ...) is chaste to the point of requiring a suspension of disbelief--although I guess it's nice if I'm going to recommend this to my teenage boys. Despite my complaints, and the feeling that it's something of a filler book, this does a good job of moving the story along and getting us to the next stage in the saga of the castaways. Which of course I'm planning on buying.

Ringo and Weber Scots again.

Hooked. Ringo and Weber are two of the best military sci-fi authors on their. Together they are a force of nature.

Yes, they were out of order

We all know by now that the books were here out of order, but that's been corrected and all four books are now here at Audible.. Audible picked up the other books VERY fast.

"March to the Sea" chronicles Prince Roger and the Bronze Barbarian's (and some real barbarian's) march to the point where they will cross the sea to reach the "Empire of Man's space port".

More "Out of the Box thinking" from Weber and Ringo (I had the pleasure of talking to Ringo again at the 2006 Dragon*Con), and we get to see Prince Roger transform a bit more from the "Clothes Horse" that he was, into the "Respected Leader" that he will become.

Weber and Ringo consistently give us great Military Sci-fi.
