Brighton, 1882: Albert Moscrop spends his holiday peering at beachgoers through a telescope, piecing together disarmingly trivial observations into a compelling drama for his own amusement. The reader was superb. He applied just the right time to each scene. His characters came alive. Very well performed.
The plot sagged a bit at the beginning, but picked up after the third chapter.
