Great Faith-Based Adventure
It was 2225, and the world we know is coming to an end, then the holy book is ripped in two, the Old Testament travels in one direction while the New Testament travels in another. Now 2625 - four hundred years after the catastrophe, the world is in a post apocalyptic state, Angelica and her people reverting back to primitive ways of living while others try to survive in the now-collapsed cities of Alaska, each with their own cultures and lifestyles. Angelica is called upon by God, to leave her village and recover the New Testament to reunite the scriptures and bring the truth of its contents to save her village. This was a wonderful adventure story centered on family, faith, and adversity. Angelica's mother, Hannah, left her at a young age for reasons she didn't quite understand, leaving Angelica feeling responsible and guilty for Hannah's disappearance. She comes to learn that she has been chosen to find the lost scriptures and hopes to find her long lost mother in the process after finding out that this may be the same journey and mission her mother was taking when she didn't return home. Angelica sets out to recover the missing half of the holy book, to save her family and her people, and to find her mother. The writing, the story, the characters are all a great mix that brings this story to life. The adventure and the outcome were inspirational and fun to read and listen (I did both.) The narration was great, but I did enjoy reading the book a little more. I absolutely love the cover art, it is perfect and caught my eye immediately, the eagle in the circle of smoke was a great choice... Awesome!!! This was a great faith-centered adventure, I truly enjoyed it, and I am anxiously awaiting the release of Alone in the Land of the Midnight Sun (book #2)

Incredible, thought-provoking, and beautiful.
Lost in the Land of the Midnight Sun, By Christina Cattane is an incredible, thought-provoking, and beautiful tale about a dystopian world with a distorted faith. I've often pondered what would happen (how my faith journey would look) if I didn't have easy access to the Bible. Would I finally get better at memorizing scripture if Bibles were scarce and hard to find? Would I take the time to transcribe what I remember of the Word? Or worse yet, would important details get forgotten or misconstrued in translation?
Cattane's novel draws on those questions and more as it follows an Alaskan Tribe hundreds of years after they were left with just one copy of one-half of the Bible. The Old Testament. Cattane wove together a gut-wrenching tale about broken and lost people desperate with the need for the Lord and Savior, and zero-knowledge that He has already come. Angelica's journey to absolution is the perfect introduction to this series, and I'm eager to see how the rest of the story unfolds.
Lost in the Land of the Midnight Sun, is a delightful Christian adaptation of the popular dystopian genre. Containing the perfect mix of a strong female lead, a deceitful yet all too powerful government, and hope. It combines everything we've come to expect and love in dystopian fiction with strong Christian themes, and a thought-provoking plot. I predict that Cattane's Lost series will inspire other Christian writers to explore similar themes and cause the Christian dystopian genre to explode.
The narration and production of this audiobook are absolutely stunning. I love when a narrator is able to go beyond reading the story and instead bring characters to life with unique and authentic accents. Kimberly Mesceda's narration is incredible, making this one of the best audiobooks I have ever heard. Each character had a specific voice, I never questioned who was speaking because she made the characters instantly recognizable.
I absolutely love this book/audiobook and will listen to the rest of the trilogy the minute each book releases! I also plan to buy a boxed set of the full series as soon as it is available, to read and cherish for years to come.

Loved this listen
My son, who is blind, and I listened to the audio version of this title and loved it. He was hesitant at first to read it but ended up hooked. The characters are real life and interesting. The adventure takes you where you have never been and never thought to be. The story shows people as they tend to be yet it shows both the good and bad side of us all. It brings you to think about what you know about those around you and wonder if you are deceived. The narration was hesitant at first then became quite well done. The ending leaces room for a hoped for series.

More than just a story. Highly recommend!
I really loved the story which was both an emotional roller coaster and a delightful post-apocalyptic adventure. The world building was just as fantastic as the descriptions; the use of vivid imagery and colors, and the narrator’s ability to capture voices and accents made it a fun read with top-tier sensory experience.
Imagine a world were people thought it was best to tear the last Bible into two, and those who got the law part went on to live like the ancient Israelites for 400 years until God himself start revealing to unsuspecting people that they were doing all those sacrifices for nothing. Imagine the stakes in a village were people were easily labeled impure and were sent away as outcasts for lack of animals to kill for their sins and others could be stoned for a yes or a no.
If you were the daughter of the high-priest and you started to see things that no one else could and someone told you to go on a quest in a forbidden land, at the risk of dying (by the hands of your own people) what would be your reaction?
The losses, and the lack of joy and support our main character experiences throughout the book was nerve-wrecking and I found myself naturally cheering for her while she took the leap and made some difficult choices in order to save her village that was living in slavery and herself. It was retable.
Through the book, we see spiritual forces in action front and center, and true colors of fake allies and true heroes as they came together to get back the freedom that was taken from them centuries ago.
The ending left me wanting more; I couldn’t shake the feeling we’d get more action-packed scenes as we now have a two sides clearly opposed to each other, and the rising of a sinister villain and a power-hungry priest. I couldn’t have expected anything short of impactful from this book. It’s really worth listening.
