A gender bending tale with a resolution you don't see coming. Well written with such an unusual twist on a common theme that it stays entertainingly mischievous until the end.

Narrator: Anne Flosnik tends to be a performer that you love or hate. I say listen to the snippets and judge for yourself. In this very specific to time and place genre she is perfect.

Heat Factor: Barely lukewarm with only one slightly frank fore play scene.

Creditworthy? In my opinion YES!

I like the cross dressing trope and in this book, unlike "Mad Jack" where the masquerade was unveiled early on, the disguise in this story lasted two thirds of the way. This allowed for some amusing recounting of Lord Harry's adventures as a young man about town. The major problem with the plot was that the hero and heroine didn't really get to know each other until late in the game and the transition was unbelievable and awkward. In spite of that I enjoyed the story.

I am concerned with the author's blatant disregard for the correct addresses and practices of the English aristocracy in the Regency era. The hero was a Marquess but he was consistently addressed as "your grace" throughout, a title that is reserved for dukes. The heroine's father is a baronet, and not a peer of the realm. As such he should not be able to sit in the House of Lords. Moreover, his son should not be a "Sir" as the father was still living, assuming the title was hereditary. The heroine styled herself Lord Harry, a fictitious peer of the realm - I am amazed that nobody tried to look Lord Harry up in Debrett's, which maintains a comprehensive listing of all peers in England even up to this day. Other deviations from practices of the times: (1) hero brings his mistress to a "ton" masquerade (2) the heroine was not advised of the choice of weapons ahead of the duel (3) no surgeon was present at the duel (4) the heroine swans about town without a chaperon. I'll overlook the latter deviations, giving the author the benefit of the doubt that these deviations were plot devices. However, it is hard to overlook the author's ignorance regarding the structure of the English aristocracy since her story is based in that setting. Particularly since the book was revised at a later date.

The narrator is pretty good. I guess I've listened to her enough times that I've gotten used to her unique accents and she does dramatization well.

Overall entertaining but glaring historical errors

Anne Flosnik and Catherine Coulter make a fantastic 5 Star team able to produce an outstanding audiobook. This is book 3 in this series and is my favorite thus far. Excellent character development and filled with meaningful details. Don't miss this one.

So funny I couldn't stop laughing! The romance is subdued, sex is really not sexy and it could have been improved, but all in all it was great!

Hilarious!

as an avid reader I really enjoy a whimsical book now and then. but while this book was whimsical, it was INTRIGUING! A lady spirited enough to seek revenge for the death of a beloved brother, to spare another who celebrates the birth of his first born!!! why, its unheard of! And yet, she does...seek vengence that is. And in that very act she finds a freedom she might never have experienced otherwise. Fuel identities, fervent friends, and lots more lie in the pages of this book, just waiting for you.

Kept me laughing and guessing!
