Living Uncommonly is about how to live life in an uncommon way from a distinctly Biblical perspective. Living Uncommonly has the viewpoint from a common, everyday person, but one who desires to live life uncommonly in a more purposeful, effective, and meaningful way based on Biblical principles. The principles discussed in the book cover a variety of topics important to every person.
A small sample of the topics in Living Uncommonly include purpose, work, making the most of opportunities, producing spiritual fruit, worry, humility, forgiveness, giving, spiritual disciplines, and finishing strong. Each of the chapters in the book establish a Biblical basis for how to live uncommonly, often supported by stories and examples from the author’s experiences.
Living Uncommonly was initially motivated by the author’s desire to memorialize his thoughts on Biblically based, uncommon living practices for his grandchildren and future descendants. The author’s hope is that this book of practical advice based on Scripture will enable all who hear it to find new and better ways to live lives of purpose. The aim is to help people of all ages and backgrounds develop life practices that will draw every listener into a more intimate relationship with Christ so that they, in turn, may impact those in their sphere of influence in a substantially positive way.
The approach to Living Uncommonly considers the contrast between Biblically based direction for living a life of meaning and purpose, compared to the predominant cultural trends in today’s world.
