It's Bond.....But

The second recording of the Bond Collection was good, but not great. This particular novel was not one of my favorites and unfortunately the narration did not change my opinion. As much as I admire Adjoa Andoh's immense talent, this was not the right story for her. She did a good job but listening to Bond with a woman's voice made it difficult to stay interested. I tried to keep an open mind about a female narrator, but kept thinking this should be narrated by a male. Maybe if she had done the female parts and a male did the rest of the narration, I would have been more involved with the story. Overall it was good, but....

One thing this narration did was bring back memories of when I was in New Orleans when the movie was being filmed and Roger Moore debuted as James Bond. I was lucky to see part of the filming and it will be something I will not forget.

Enjoyable

Despite some of the sexist reviewers, I rather enjoy the narrator. A story about a male, even an iconic one, can be told by anyone. The story itself is wonderful, and I'm definitely enjoying it.

irritating narrators voice.

I've read all of the Bond books. Many times. never once did that Voice come into my head reading the books. Sorry to say she sounds like an irritating grandmother. The book is great story's great. The narrative just didn't make the book as good as the story dictates
I would say that if she I would narrate all the books I will probably want to returnthe. By the way, Felix voice almost made me quit listening to this book. Nothing against generator it should be against a person who interviewed her

I'm sure she would be very good. In Heather stories, but she shouldn't be doing any character. Voices to support this story once again. I'm sorry that's what this is so bad.I can't wait to finish this book and get on to the next

As an American, I have no clue what that American accent is supposed to be.

The reader is absolutely charming until she does the “American” accent. I’ve never heard that accent from any state.

I've always been a huge bond fan but just recently I've started listening to the books and they didn't disappoint at all

Never use a female narrator for male a primary character!

Not sure how they could do this, but they broke the cardinal rule of audio books. Using the wrong gender for the narrator. No matter how good they are, they can’t carry the book. So for that reason I haven’t yet finished the book when the first was epic,

The story is good and interesting, however the narrator is not the correct one for this.

I like most spy novels. James Bond being the G.O.A.T I expect it to blow my mind. However I could not get past the poor accents from the narrator. I will continue to listen to more of Ian Flemmings work however if they are continued to be read by the audio narrator chosen for this book. I will probably just buy the actual books.

Do Not Love the Narrator

Pretty tough sledding, this one. Of its time, a terrible narrator, a dumb plot. Hoping for more from Moonraker. Really liked Casino Royale — I’m going through these in order…

And I should say I like her narration generally and don’t mind her narrating male characters at all… but the American and Haitian / French / Black accents were just awful.

Narrator choice

Who knows what goes thru someone’s mind when choosing a female narrator for one of the most male characters in literature? Aside from this wild miscasting, this narrator brings nothing to the listening experience except groans when her accents for characters keep one from engaging with the story. I cannot really rate this novel because it didn’t resemble any other audio productions of Fleming’s Bond. Too sad.
