Resumen del Editor

How long can we expect to live?

Do we have to succumb to frailty?

Can we stay physically strong and even get stronger as the years go by?

Can we add decades to our lives?

Moses was a great man of God who lived 40 years longer than he expected to.

His longevity overshoot suggests four axioms that we as modern day Christians can apply in the hope of living longer and stronger:

  1. there is some value in physical training,
  2. the rest of our days belong to Christ,
  3. burning bushes extend and transform our future, and
  4. perhaps we can become indispensable.

Live Longer & Stronger Like Moses

Joe Caldwell demonstrates for us that living longer and stronger is both quantitative and qualitative. While taking us on a journey with Moses, we are reminded that greatness is always superceded by humility. Perhaps the burning bush not only took Moses by surprise, but opened his eyes to an incomparable God and His divive imperative. Myriad biblical descriptors surround the life of Moses, but have you considered physical fitness? This dynamic, coupled with the idea that our days belong to God, gives relevance to the connectedness of longevity and fulfilling God's purpose.

Longevity, Moses, and Me

"Christian culture places little emphasis on training to have a strong body, as if such pursuit has no value." Through the life and example of Moses, Caldwell addresses head on this de facto dualism so prevalent in evangelical Christianity . He sets forward a much-needed theology of physical health, placing physical vigor in the context of greater gospel mission. On the practical level, Caldwell offers three metrics by which one can measure his or her physical strength and vitality. God numbers our days. The Goal is that Christians would experience the full measure of those days by paying attention to both spiritual and physical health. This book is a solid contribution to a topic that needs much more exploration.

Biblical Insight Into a Long Life

This was an easy listen, and very challenging. It challenges the idea of body decline as we age and lays out steps we can take to keep our muscle mass, and overall physical well being. The author both demonstrated his knowledge of physiology and the Bible and brought the two together to draw examples from those who did live extraordinarily long lives. It's well thought out, and well presented.
