The father was irritating. The delay tactics to ratchet up suspense by Battles were ridiculous. If they told the guy one more time I cant tell you, I was going to scream. The interviewing cop was an idiot.

Highly Recommended

I often wonder how authors know all the stuff that they know. Either they do a lot of research or they have a lot of experience. Which ever is the case, Battles creates a backdrop for his stories that make the experience of the read delightful.

There are a few more books in this series (Logan Harper), which I will read as soon as I finish the Cleaner series. They are all good.

Talented Writer Keeps Batting 1000

I have read the entire Quinn series, and wishing for more, I tried out this alternate book. What a joy, in a different way. Sure, it may not feature silenced pistols as much, but what it does have is incredible storytelling chops. One is immediately taken in by the story and off on an escapist journey, including an appearance of a special character from the Quinn series. It also has emotional resonance and describes how anyone can overcome a wounded past and find redemption through courage, action, and heart. I think that can be said about the author as well. The narration and story are top notch. I just wish for more, or good deals on such books as this one had. Mr. Battles, I would love to know your trade craft and I anticipate new additions to this genre, whether in this series or the Quinn. The new Becoming Quinn is a rare gem.

Great narrator, great story

This book was really good. The narrator made it even that much better. Great job. The story took place in several locations but kept everything cohesive.

Oustanding! Battles does it again!

Brett Battles does it again with this great new series. It's definitely different from the Jonathan Quinn series (which you should read too), but Logan Harper is an equally thrilling, complex, and interesting character. And also once again, Battles takes us on a thrilling ride across the globe --- all to save a girl. I could not recommend this any more!

Great Story

Brett Battles is a great writer! His stories keep you involved to the end. I haven't been dissappointed in any of his writings nor have anyone that I have referred him too!

Logan Harper is a great and complex new character!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Oh definately! I even listened to this book while doing my house work.

Which character – as performed by Jeff Woodman – was your favorite?

Harp, Logan's dad, was my favorite. Jeff did a great job depicting both father and son even when the chafracters were terse with each other.

Another good one from cleaner man

Brett Battles displays a deft touch with thrillers, linking seemingly disparate elements at just the right time to make the hair stand on end.

This doesn't quite have the punch of the best of the Quinn books but it's still head and shoulders above most of the dross out there.

getting paid by the word?

I recall criticizing Battles' earlier works for his repeated use of dialogue comprising someone saying 'what?' and the other person replying with things we readers already know. Verisimilitude, maybe, but frustrating for the reader, not in a good way (prolepsis) but in a bad way (get on with it already). This book, more recent, uses similarly frustrating dialogical tricks that do nothing to advance the plot but a great deal to make the book longer, i.e. padding. The story is good enough . . . get on with it.

Too much time spent on descriptives

Author must have matured after this book as most everything Battles writes I like, but this one just rambled too much and the story was not quite there. Wasn't impressed with narrater either, but I am very picky on narraters.
