New bedtime stories for kids

I found these stories great for bedtime, adding a nice variation to traditional tales. They’re mostly Asian (mainly Chinese) stories, each with their own morals and mythical animals that kids love, like dragons and brave warriors. Very different from Western stories, but a fun and “spicy” change for children.

Many of these stories aren’t well known in this part of the world, but they’ve inspired popular tales, like the Monkey King, which influenced Dragon Ball and Goku, or the legend of Mulan, which became a beloved Disney movie.

I recommend this to break the usual bedtime story cycle.

Fun and educational for kids!

My kids loved listening to these legends! The stories were exciting, easy to follow, and taught great lessons. It’s a fun way to introduce them to different cultures. We’ve already listened to it twice!

Lots of little storys explained in a gentle way.

This book set is wonderful. Tons of short story's that give little minds something to think about. And at the end of a book even some activity ideas.
As an adult i am tempted to try some of the activity's myself.
The Narrator's voice is kind and and has a hint of mischief i loved it.
If ur an adult and was like me just wondering about story's from China, India, Japan & Thailand these are short and sweet. They tell u what each story is and then the lesson meant to be gained by them.
All and all i can see this set of books being used in the classroom or as small reading time at home.

Great Collection

This was such a great collection! I really enjoy the Legends for Kids series and while I had already listened to Japanese and Thai, I hadn't yet gotten the chance to listen to Chinese and Indian, so this was a great grab as this collection includes:

Chinese Legends for Kids
Indian Legends for Kids
Japanese Legends for Kids
Thai Legends for Kids

It was nice getting reacquainted with the legends of Mulan and the Monkey King. And the Indian legends were all pretty much new to me. As for Japanese and Thai, here are my original reviews-

Japanese Legends for Kids

I really enjoyed this book. I've heard of a number of these stories but didn't actually know what they were about. So it was a nice to get them in one collection. I also liked that there were lessons to be learned at the end of each story. Hachiko and Kitsune were my favorites, but all were really fun to listen to.

I have both the audiobook and ebook, so it was nice to read and listen at the same time. Guy Barnes did a wonderful job narrating these stories. I liked his different voices for different characters. I like that he spoke in a way that he was telling stories about exciting adventures and characters to children to get them interested and excited. He had a good energy to his narration. This is my first book from this author and my first time listening to this narrator, and I would be happy for more.

Thai Legends for Kids

I really enjoyed this book. I recently listened to Japanese Legends For Kids a couple months ago and loved it. While I was familiar of some of those stories, I didn't know any Thai legends, so it was fun to hear new stories. I also liked that there were lessons to be learned from each story and they were discussed at each conclusion.

Guy Barnes did another wonderful job narrating these stories. I liked his different voices for different characters. I like that he spoke in such a way that it felt almost like he was in front of a crowd of children and telling these stories about these adventures and characters to get them interested and excited. He had a good energy to his narration. I'm looking forward to learning more legends from this author and narrated by Guy Barnes to bring them to life.

Great narration

Great narration! However, it doesn’t allow for interpretation. The stories are too short, and the explanation of the stories are too long. It takes away from the listener, getting lost in the myth itself.
