Somewhere out in the woods an otherworldly creature born of fire and hate lurks. When the beast emerges, lusting for blood, all that stands between it and the nearby town is a grief-stricken farmer. Supernatural ferocity meets backwoods ingenuity in a horror fable of good versus evil.

Spooky!

Would you consider the audio edition of Legend of Kill Creek Woods to be better than the print version?
I'd imagine so. The narrator's accent and talent lent a note of realism.Who was your favorite character and why?
The unnamed farmer. His strughles and loss leave you relating to or at least rooting for him. What about Joe Hempel’s performance did you like?
His accent fit the character well, not as much southern as rural, maybe. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A man who loses everything can still have vengeance. Or (on a liter note): BEWARE OF DOG!Any additional comments?

The narrator Joe Hemple is very good and I have listened to several of his previous works and have enjoyed his narration. Joe always does a very good job.

The best defense against a Demon Dog is a Ghost

Left with the last litter of puppies. The man is obsessed with finding who or what killed his beloved family. Then one night the killer finds him. Thus begins a short cat and mouse game, each switching roles from time to time. Until only the victor remains.
This was reminiscent of the ghost stories that my parents told me while sitting around the campfire when I was a kid. Them trying to scare the pants off of me so I would have a restless night sleeping alone in my tent. Jumping at every little sound I would hear.
Quite an entertaining listen that ended in a way that I didn't think would happen, and in a way that I loved. Worth the lmost two hours of listening time to be creeped out for most of it.
Joe Hempel did a decent job with this performance. Adding in a slight southern accent that made it seem even more real. At time I didn't agree with his pacing changes. He more than made up for this with the intensity of which he read. Bringing the terror that the man was going through to life. Hempel has a voice that one might not associate with the term narrator. As he sounds like a normal everyman. This only adds to the wonder that is created telling the authors folk lore.
