In a universe where the very existence of a civilization can be deliberated upon by a single Council of allied alien races, it is never a good idea to be the race that is practiced at war.

Our main character, Charlie, was an average 12-year-old orphan working his way through the foster system with families and institutions that didn’t want to deal with his issues. His parents had died in a car crash when he was just three, and it had left him bitter and resentful of the world around him.

A health scare and a surgery to remove a particularly nasty brain tumour rendered Charlie paralyzed from the neck down, and he began to grow appreciative and even loving of the Browns, his latest foster family, who had put their own lives on hold simply to care for him.

Once an opportunity arose for Charlie to undergo experimental treatments to cure his paralysis, he jumped at the chance to remove the burden of his care from the Browns, and was transported, unknowing to him, to another planet, where he would become a cadet of the brand new arm of the earth militaries: The Space Corps.

A cadet in a wheelchair would be difficult for the others to accept, but by finding friendships in Laura and Mauro, Charlie battled through. As a member of the GAP (Generic Advancement Program), he began to grow into something so much more than he could’ve ever imagined. Charlie would never have imagined the advancements to his physical body that the GAP Program would provide.

Leaving his wheelchair would soon show to be the least of his trials, as he battles for the very survival of himself, his friends, planet Earth, and humanity as a whole.

Really good!

Okay the potential for this was really big but unfortunately the author decided to condense everything inton one book this could have been a trilogy easily, don't get me wrong the story is still really good and entertaining. i will definitely look for other stories from the author

Great listen. The characters are easy to like and it’s about space. What more could you ask for.

Enjoyable!

I enjoyed the listen. Well performed. It is a stand alone book but feels like an excellent beginning to a sequel or series like others have said.

Great Sci-Fi action

This is the second book I’ve listened to by David and I have thoroughly enjoyed both. The first was historical fiction called Lanista. It was great! I followed up with this one and I loved it! Sort of has an Ender’s Game feel. The MC’s are easy to fall in love with and the baddies are easy to hate. The way he grows his characters is spot on and the story itself will keep you wanting more! Don’t pass this one up. You’ll thank me later.

First time reader and I enjoyed this book!

This was my first time reading or listening to anything written by David Lingard. Legacy of Man is a great introduction to his work. It is well written and engaging on numerous levels. I look forward to my next read/listen from David. Audio Version: Jason Renault does a great job with the characters and narration.

The author David Lingard wrote an excellent science fiction book style reminds of Ender’s Game which I truly love.

Great storytelling

Excellent story telling and narrating, would definitely recommend. The author does a great job developing characters. Will be looking for more titles from this author.

Epic sci-fi

Has a very good beginning you’ll be enjoying every little piece of it. You’ll find yourself reviewing the book over and over again until you get the parts that you both enjoy and try to remember. I hope I get to see more from this author as well and the voice acting is well-made.

Very Enjoyable

Reviews aren’t really my thing but I’ll just say this: the book and author are highly underrated. I was hesitant because of the low number of reviews but was pleasantly surprised with a great original story with fun and relatable characters. I enjoyed watching the progression of Charlie and his team as their lives got more complex and the their stakes kept rising. In short, I really enjoyed Legacy of Man and highly recommend it.
