Explosive

I love all of Gregg Hurwitz’s books. Every single one is a well thought out page turner. His chatacters show depth and growth. The plot is never a straight line to the end. The twists and turns keeps the reader/ listener engaged up to the last page.

Kevin (JAX-FL)

This was a magnificent book and Scott brick brought it to life. I was rooting for the bad guy through the entire book. That ending was breathtaking thank you again Gregg Hurwitz.

Good but scientific flaw

It is a good story, although I think the ending is a little flawed but I don’t want to say too much and spoil ending for anyone.

Antihero and hero out to avenge his sister.

Walker Jamison is a great antagonist and keeps the pulse up the entire book. If you enjoy tails of righteous revenge, this is a great read.

Exciting with a hero surprise at the end.

This is my first audible listing for this author that very much surprised me. The beginning had me questioning my choice but I’m so glad I stuck it out. A very good Book with a great listen.

A different prison story, looks at Big Pharmaceutical

Action packed, with only a brief glance at prison life. Mostly about the the pursuit of a escapee as he searches for the murderer of his sister. Well read and written. Relevant in recent events regarding the role of Big Pharma.

A little sad, but a lot of justice, and a good end

This may be a Tim Rackley story, but it is more about the "bad guy" than about the investigators! Walker Jamison is a complicated character you sympathize with, all the while still knowing he must be caught.

A little bit Evan Smoak, a little bit Jack Reacher, but justice doesn't always have a happy ending. The opening prison scenes are so reminiscent of the newest Orphan X book (Into the Fire) that you might be confused thinking they are the same time and place! The protagonist is someone to root for, and he does end up doing the right thing, but he has not always been a good guy. There's even a small shout out to all that we expect our military to experience and suffer without much support. So there is a lot going on in the story, more motivations than at first are obvious, and much more happening with the medical experiments than you at first think. Hurwitz manages to keep it all together and come to a satisfying conclusion. The ending is subtle and requires some effort to know exactly what happened. Even the title is more complicated than it seems at first glance. The ongoing tension between Rackley and his father comes in after the Walker Jamison story and has nothing to do with it, but is still part of the theme of the book. Contemplating the various last shots adds depth and gravitas to your enjoyment of the story, and you'll find yourself thinking about it for some time after it's over.
