During Emma’s first week on the case, Femi is found murdered at his opulent residence in Accra. There are no signs of Ngozi at the scene, and fearing the worst, Emma digs further, discovering that Femi was part of a network of sex traffickers across West Africa.

Emma must figure out which of Femi’s many enemies killed him, but more urgently, she must find Ngozi before she, too, is murdered in cold blood.

Eye opening true fiction

So much more than a detective story

I have enjoyed all the Kwei Quartey novels. And this one is read by Robin Miles. What a winning combination.

I love the character of Emma and the other individuals who reflect positive as well as negative elements in contemporary Nigeria and Ghana.

Outstanding Story

Written in a gripping manner. The many characters are not all well developed but the circumstances they are portrayed in are quite different and tragic. It’s hard to imagine how many people are affected by human trafficking and the cruelty of that practice. It is shocking.

Disappointed

I loved Kwei Quartey’s first two books featuring Emma and read beautifully by Robin Miles. This third book went beyond a good murder mystery to address very dark social issues, such as human trafficking, sociopathy, and hopelessness. Somehow the main characters were only superficially affected by the horrors they confronted. If you are looking for entertainment and cultural broadening, this is not your book.
