a fun space adventure

There is noto much to dislike here. Fun Story, Good Readers, not too long. I read this book a few years ago, and enjoyed it. so when I discovered it was available on audio I decided to dive into this series. looking forward to the next 2 books!

Great story, great narrator

I love epic sci-fi and fantasy. The grander and more broad the arcs the more I tend to like them so I really enjoyed this story and will purchase the next book soon, I hope.

The author told a great story. My preference in scifi writers is to have a strong understanding of science. When the author describes a planet inside the same one as Aru, you find out it has been shattered into 3 pieces..by commit. For something to have the force to do that it would take at least a dwarf planet and for it to break into 3 pieces is odd. Each individual piece would shoot off in different directions or if it didn't, would come back together pretty quickly. This was described by two children so maybe the info will be corrected later. In the story, Mars is going to be destroyed by the Sun going Supernova. Fortunately the author DOES understand that our Sun can't go supernova and so is able to explain how it does. Don't want to go into how the author does that because it would spoil and element of the story.

Kevin Emerson writes a fantastic story that I enjoyed so much that his description of a planet shattered into 3 pieces was something I was able to overlook. Besides, that was the most glaring issue I found so that's not to bad.

Undeniably YA sci-fi, but maybe worth the series

Decent YA-orientated book that centers around the idea that humanity must flee the sun as it inexplicably starts to grow into a red giant-type star. Humanity used Mars as a pitstop as they move to another star, and are finalizing their departure, when a boy, Liam, his friend, Phoebe, unwittingly find themselves wrapped up in an interstellar conflict.
