Detective Esa Khattak heads up Canada's Community Policing Section, which handles minority-sensitive cases across all levels of law enforcement. Khattak is still under scrutiny for his last case, so he's surprised when INSET, Canada's federal intelligence agency, calls him in on another potentially hot-button issue. So Khattak sends his partner, Detective Rachel Getty, undercover into the ultraconservative mosque that houses the terrorist cell. As Rachel tentatively reaches out into the unfamiliar world of Islam and begins developing relationships with the people of the mosque and the terrorist cell within it, the potential reasons for Mohsin's murder seem only to multiply, from the political and ideological to the intensely personal.

I often enjoy detective stories and this one was no different. The writing was excellent and the case material was intriguing.

I wasn't sure about this book but I am glad we listened to it. We enjoyed it very much.

Great story, flawed reading.

I’ve really been enjoying these books by Ausma Khan. It’s great to hear stories set in Canada and with a multi cultural character base.

More please, Audible! I can think of lots of Canadian authors across many genres, mystery and crime procedural, included.

I find the narration a little flat, particularly the voice affect of the main character, but think the reader does a great job with names - especially those not of Anglo-Saxon origin. That said though, it’s TOUQUE!! - Pronounced tūke, as in Boutique , or Boo!, or lieutenant (although we would say ‘lef-tenant’). A ‘toke’ is a drag on a marijuana cigarette. C’mon, producers, do your homework!!

Good story, poor performance

The narrator is incredibly skilled at certain pronunciations but faltered on most of the uniquely Canadian words like toque or CSIS, especially given that the author is Canadian it is laughable.
