In this clean reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Thomas Bennet has a much older sister, Marianne, who enters into an arranged marriage when she is fifteen and Thomas is five. The siblings have little contact and no real interest in each other. Marianne is widowed and remarries and in the process becomes Lady Fetton, a Duchess and a very wealthy woman.

Years pass and after Marianne is widowed a second time she returns to Longbourn and becomes involved in the lives of the Bennets only weeks before the Bingleys and Darcy arrive at Netherfield. Mr. Darcy and Miss Bingley, unaware of her rank, cut her at the Meryton assembly and, of course, Mr. Darcy insults Elizabeth.

After Wickham arrives and the Bingley’s give their ball, Lady Fetton decides it is time to change the course of the lives of the Bennets and in the process changes the lives of the Bingleys and Mr. Darcy.

This story begins a bit earlier than we are used to. A huge part of the book is about Lady Fetton. Very interesting personality. I enjoyed it very much. Only down side is the virtual voice who can’t say Darce. It says Dacre instead. Annoying. But other than that a great read. Great Jaff.

Interesting story

like other books by the same author, I feel the author neglects editing and it messes with the flow of the story. otherwise, the story is quite enjoyable. the set downs were phenomenal! loved the line Hurst delivered to Caroline. the lay out of the chapters seems quite chaotic and it was difficult to understand when in the timeline we were at on occasion. the lessons learned where well taught. some of the explanations were repeated more than was necessary. also, again with this author, the ending seems a bit neglected where the rest of the story gets all the writer's skill and attention, but it's only the last two chapters or so. overall though, it's very enjoyable and I wouldn't mind listening again.

quite entertaining

This is not for your typical pride and prejudice fan. This is a story that developed the characters it got into what made the family and the characters who they were. The only thing that could’ve been better is if Stevie Zimmerman did the narration. This was one of my absolute favorite. Will listen to this again!

Excellent storyline. This was P&P with substance.

This story was interesting since it pointed out basically everyone's faults and everyone, except perhaps Caroline, tried to improve themselves and overcome their problems. Everyone had a good amount of things to change. And while I hadn't really thought about some of the things in the same light as the book did, there was a whole lot of "therapy" going on through most of the book. Lady Fetton gets to tell people about their faults without worrying about hurting feelings or being untoward. She gets to say the things that readers would like to say.
There was a lot of repetition but it didn't really bother me. What was bothersome though, were all the errors, missing words, even the name of an estate changing names somewhere in the middle. Had there been a live narrator, many of these errors could have been fixed but it was virtual voice and it was terrible. 1 star. Do not recommend. I think it would still be annoying to read all the errors but at least you can correct the errors in your head and your brain might even fix some of them without you realizing it did. Perhaps the virtual voice wouldn't have been as bad if all the errors weren't there. Then again, maybe they have been fixed in the ebook but the voice was done prior to that. I'll never know since I will not be listening or reading this one again, despite it having a different type of story and writing style. An interesting story that needs both a better editor and better narration.

Interesting story-needs better editing & narration
