Message is great, audiobook is not the best way to read this
I found this book to be powerful. the messages that shared can help to change how one thinks about the world and how to interact with and within it.
I bought a used copy of thr book to see why where seemed to be random quotes that were in the middle of ideas.
In the text copy, there are diagrams and quotes. They are just read without pause as they are encountered in the text. This makes for a disconnected audiobook in my opinion. it was hard to follow the messages because of interruptions. The quotes and diagrams add to the text, but they create confusion when trying to listen.
it might have been helpful to say "a quote by.." instead of just reading the quote in the middle of the text.
I am finishing the audiobook with that in mind and plan to revisit with a text copy to take notes. As I said ,the messages and story are sound and helpful.

Great Tools for my ADHD but...
Great tools for my ADHD but there are a good amount of thinking errors in the logical chains the author seeks to use to establish certain points. One example—the author seemingly dismisses conventional thinking, institutions, and the traditional as arbitrary. Continuimg with this flippant logic would he also just as quickly toss out the value of religion, western goverment, societal institutions? He loses a lot of credit very quickly from the outset, and yet I can see how one may be tempted to overweight the unconventional over the conventional having ADHD. This mistake negates from his valuing of the unconventional as this view is too in line now with the norms of post-modern society, so the author is unclear with his own views to be clear thinking in my view.

Insightful, useful, inspiring.
If you are fascinated by how the human brain does its work, especially for people with ADHD (and anyone looking to ignite productivity and creativity), this is a good book. The audiobook was well done. Thanks to Prof Karp for making a strong contribution.

Do yourself a favor and read this book
An elegant, instructive, motivational, and meditative read. For far too long the endeavor of research has been industrialized, processed, and divorced from it's higher objectives. Jeff Karp beautifully outlines (through the LIT credo) why and how research must reconnect with nature-inspired mindfulness, curiosity, creativity, and purpose. In illustrating these points, the author does not spare himself from scrutiny and is candid about his own life experiences from a neurodivergent child, an ambitious workaholic professor, and a father and husband struggling to attain balance between career and family. The life lessons he learned are generously shared throughout the book.
Though this reads sometimes like a meditation, it also effectively motivates, outlines simple, practical strategies for fostering creativity, staying engaged, and navigating setback and success alike. In this book you will learn about how we can leverage our own neuroeconomics to ask grand questions and use bioinspiration to tackle them. Refreshingly he also discusses the role of spiritual intelligence and its too-often dismissed role in guiding the acquisition of knowledge.
Every first year graduate student should read this, as should any early stage investigator, or any scientist feeling dejected or losing sense of purpose. It inspires hope, optimism, and the truth that just each of us has a place on this planet, so too does everything else and we would do well to be mindful of that. True to form, I was left with questions; not ones that can be satisfied with answers, but ones that guide and provide bearings to an academic life well-examined.

I’m convinced the narration is AI
I loved this book. It gives you food for thought and actionable steps. However, I decided to buy the hardcover a few chapters in because of the narration. Although the narrator has a name, I’m convinced it was actually AI. It made it hard to listen to, and I think some of the information didn’t make its way into my brain because it wasn’t delivered in natural speech. I highly recommend this book and do NOT recommend the audiobook!

I found this book Uninspiring, Sophomoric.
The writer barely had an idea of his own. He quoted so many times from other writers that I feel like I should be reading their books instead. 2 hours and 42 minutes and he never got anywhere near making a point.
