Life decisions at 50 are just as difficult as in your 20’s

I love this author’s realistic view of life. Her characters are vivid, make human mistakes, struggle with life decisions, change their mind about things and just kept me so entertained that I couldn’t put the book down.

Charming!

Key Largo Blues is a wonderful story as it continues on from Dakota Blues. Karen is still working on her app and trying to make her business a success, but she left her high school sweetheart in North Dakota when she left Dickinson to find her fortune. Kurt is a professor at the University of North Dakota, wishing that Karen had made a different decision. They both love each other but haven't been able to figure it out to stay together. It was bittersweet for me that both of them had other lovers, but I guess it was needed to make them realize what they were missing.
The narration is impeccable. Jennifer Araya does a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality.

When I started listening I didn't realize this is a sequel to Dakota Blues. It is an intriguing story of strong women banding together to help each other and pass on their knowledge to a single young mother trying to escape domestic violence. A really good story line.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Jennifer Jill Araya brings the characters to life.

More Mature Romances Like This Are Needed

Most romance writers just don’t understand that 40 is the new 30... 50 is the new 35, and 60 follows suite. I listen to lines about the old 40-something woman... OMG. I suppose that seems ancient to a writers in their 20’s, but if they’d do the research they’d find that most women sexually PEAK in their 40’s-50’s. It doesn’t just abruptly end after that.

Being older than Karen, single, and still 18 inside, I found the entire cast of women refreshing. A woman driven book, it covers the ups and downs of girls from very young to very old, handled with humor and understanding. I have not read the first book but it’s not necessary as Key Largo Blues is a very stable stand alone with a bevy of emotions and HEA.

Jennifer Jill Araya is so very talented in her rendering but she does have a young voice.
