Acerca de esta escucha
New York Times bestselling authors Dan Abrams and David Fisher bring to life the incredible story of one of America's most publicized—and most surprising—criminal trials in history.
No crime in history had more eyewitnesses. On November 24, 1963, two days after the killing of President Kennedy, a troubled nightclub owner named Jack Ruby quietly slipped into the Dallas police station and assassinated the assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. Millions of Americans witnessed the killing on live television, and yet the event would lead to questions for years to come.
It also would help to spark the conspiracy theories that have continued to resonate today.
Under the long shadow cast by the assassination of America's beloved president, few would remember the bizarre trial that followed three months later in Dallas, Texas. How exactly does one defend a man who was seen pulling the trigger in front of millions? And, more important, how did Jack Ruby, who fired point-blank into Oswald live on television, die an innocent man?
Featuring a colorful cast of characters, including the nation's most flamboyant lawyer pitted against a tough-as-Texas prosecutor, award-winning authors Dan Abrams and David Fisher unveil the astonishing details behind the first major trial of the television century. While it was Jack Ruby who appeared before the jury, it was also the city of Dallas and the American legal system being judged by the world.

Historia
History remembers John Adams as a Founding Father and our country’s second president. But in the tense years before the American Revolution, he was still just a lawyer, fighting for justice in one of the most explosive murder trials of the era. On the night of March 5, 1770, shots were fired by British soldiers on the streets of Boston, killing five civilians. The Boston Massacre has often been called the first shots of the American Revolution.

"No more dramatic courtroom scene has ever been enacted," reported the Syracuse Herald on May 22, 1915, as it covered "the greatest libel suit in history", a battle fought between former President Theodore Roosevelt and the leader of the Republican party. Roosevelt, the boisterous and mostly beloved legendary American hero, had accused his former friend and ally, now turned rival, William Barnes of political corruption. The furious Barnes responded by suing Roosevelt for an enormous sum that could have financially devastated him.

For decades, government pundits have dismissed these "coincidental" deaths, even regarding them as "myths" as "urban legends." Like most people, Richard and David were initially unsure about what to make of these 'coincidences'. After all, events don't "consult the odds" prior to happening; they simply happen. Then someone comes along later and figures out what the odds of it happening were. Some of the deaths seemed purely coincidental; heart attacks, hunting accidents.

Historia
Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history. A marathon.
This is an incredibly detailed blow-by-blow of the Ruby trial. When I finished it, I felt like I'd actually sat through the trial. This may be best in smaller doses as, even for a Kennedy assassination aficionado like myself, long sessions with it got to be a bit tedious.

Painful memories
Recommend this to anyone who witnessed these strange events of assassination of our beloved President Jack Kennedy in 1963 , too young, what a loss despite his flaws . I knew some of Jack Ruby’s family from Chicago so I had a personal experience . The truth will come out not in our lifetime . Dan Abrams work & narration r to be admired as seeing him grow into a mature married with children individual is also gratifying

Well done. Dump the sidebars.
I believe this story needed to be told. I praise Abrams and Wayne for taking on the project.
My only issue with the work is it strayed from the pertinent information a few too many times. References to events and people outside of the trial of Jack were interesting and feed my head with facts that I appreciate.
Editing to eliminate “superfluous” flashbacks in history would serve to keep the reader intrigued. There were times when I stopped paying attention and thought, “Okay, I’ll wait…
Overall a 4 out of 5 is praise indeed.
