There is nothing nice and simple about the deep black waters of Russalka, however; soon she will encounter pirates and war criminals, see death and tragedy at first hand, and realise that her world's future lies on the narrowest of knife edges. For in the crushing depths lies a sleeping monster, an abomination of unknown origin. And when it wakes, it will seek out and kill every single person on the planet.

Excellent, exciting, energetic!

I went straight out and bought the sequel. I wish there were more. This is an interesting and exciting world and I absolutely love the characters. YA genre that is appealing to adults too!

Perfectly fine, but that’s all.

Very interesting plot, but not my favourite performance, and the story just never really seemed to lift off. It plottered through, but there was only one point where I was really eager to hear what came next. The big story point just didn’t feel like it was explored enough, and I understand that it’s the first of more books, but the first book should have you wrapt, and I just wasn’t!

Another interesting setting

This story sets up a new world full of ideas. I would love to hear more stories about it.
