Literary Joy & Brilliance!

This is, by far, one of my favourite books - it made learning a lot more fun, especially with all of the tasteful (and true) little quips throughout. There were a lot of good reminders for manners, and a few new ones learned as well, and all without being overwhelming. Of course, the genuinely stellar narration helped ;) Naturally, I will be recommending everyone give it a read/listen.

The simplicity.

We all know what the essence of good manners are but we need a stern reminder. This wonderful book does that with a bit of humor mixed in.

I absolutely loved the way William Hanson narrated his book. It is full of useful information to a person wanting to understand the way things should be done in Brittan. Chapter after chapter, he is funny, knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen too. I enjoyed this audiobook so much, I immediately went out and bought the book for my bookshelf.
I highly suggest you read or listen to this book before taking that trip to England... it will come in handy.

Delightful - Get the Audiobook

If ever a book was perfect for the audio version, read by the author in his crisp British accent, this is it. Loved the book and especially his tongue-in-cheek comments on his real world adventures. Charming.

Dear Mr. Hanson, I have commented on your new book before it’s official release, and in so doing I made a horrendous faux paw in etiquette by referring to you by your Christian name. I did so in error because I have been an admirer, followed you and your adventures but unfortunately not all of your advice for quite some time and incorrectly felt that the formal use of your name was too formal under those circumstances . I am a senior citizen, an American and assumed an incorrect form of familiarity when addressing you. We have not been introduced. Please accept my apologies. Your recently released book has pointed out my error and thus prompted my most sincere apology.

Hilarious but educational

I'm sure some will see parts of this book as pompous, but if you take it with a grain of salt as William seems to be teaching it, it's filled with very funny anecdotes, clever writing, and fascinating insight on manners and etiquette. It contains both current standards and historical information along with the differences between Britain and the US.

Simultaneously Hilarious and Instructive

So glad I chose the audio version of this book. While Mr. Hanson apparently comes across as "snobby" to some people, his perceived snobbery is offered entirely tongue-in-cheek.
Hanson provides a much-needed public service; he is committed to preserving established manners that society (in general, regardless of locale) seems intent on abandoning in our modern age. Hanson serves as a reliable guide for personal, public and professional etiquette; providing the history of why agreed-upon manners came to be in the first place, and why most remain relevant today.
At the end of the day, manners and etiquette are simply common courtesy; a way to get along with other people by making them feel seen and validated. The fact that some other readers complain about the book being "snobby" or "woke" makes one wonder if they somehow stumbled into the wrong book in the first place.

A delightful dip into the world of etiquette. William is an authority on such things and then it brings his charm to this book! Atruly delightful, listen.

An otherwise brilliant etiquette book dragged by Woke idiopathic sensibilities

I enjoyed Williams approach and great delivery, but goodness it comes with a whole lot of woke.

Snobby & Snooty

Dislike: Rude, mean and obnoxious.

Like: Absolutely Nothing, including the writing as well as the reader.
