On the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death, historian Lucy Worsley leads us into the world in which our best-loved novelist lived. Jane famously lived a 'life without incident', but with new research and insights Lucy Worsley reveals a passionate woman who fought for her freedom. A woman who, far from being a lonely spinster, in fact had at least five marriage prospects, but who in the end refused to settle for anything less than Mr Darcy.

Excellent reading and a well-written book
Ruth Redman has a perfect voice for any book written about or by Jane Austen! It was such a pleasure to listen to this well-written, engaging and authentic book!

Very informative
Definitely worth a listen for anyone who wants to know more about Jane Austen. The author emphasizes that the Austen family was very careful to create and nurture the image of Jane as a refined lady, and to preserve that image, much of her personal writing (letters, any personal writing such as diaries, etc) were destroyed. So much of this biography is about Austen family members, andhere are a LOT of people to keep track of. I liked that the author noted the people, places, and occurrences in Jane's life that she used in her stories. The narration was beautiful.

Deceptive Title
I did like this biography and reading by Worsley, but i did think the title and presentation of the book was somewhat manipulative given its lack of original research and its rehashing of all the stale old Austen facts. Jane Austen At Home was more pop biography meets tourism journalism than scholarly historicism, which is fine, but don't promote it as a biography with something new to say.
