“It’s breast cancer...”
These are the three words that changed Victoria’s life on January 25th, 2022.
Uttered by her consultant over a telephone consultation, her husband and young son nearby. They are the words she never in a million years expected to hear.
Only four days prior had she visited a breast consultant for a physical check as she had felt a small lump at the bottom of her breast. At 45 years old with no family history of breast cancer, she was not expecting the lump to be anything but benign. Three hours later, having had two mammograms, an ultrasound, and two biopsies, her consultant told her it looked suspicious.
This is the devastating scenario that plays out for 55,000 women yearly in the UK. For any woman who is newly diagnosed, the initial aftermath is a roller-coaster of emotions.
This audiobook shares Victoria’s journey from that first visit to see a doctor through to the end of her treatment and beyond. The anxiety, fear, shock, devastation, and the subsequent calm.
