Resumen del Editor

If it weren't for the Irish, New York wouldn't have a police force. On the other hand, it might not need one.

Starting a new job is always stressful, even when bombs aren't involved. NYPD Officer Erin O'Reilly always wanted to be a detective. But on her first day wearing a gold shield, she finds herself investigating the explosive death of a small-time crook. She and her K-9 partner Rolf, together with her new squad of detectives, plunge into a world of gamblers, mobsters, and retired Irish Republican Army soldiers.

It's an Irish cop against the Irish Mob in an intoxicating cocktail of murder, explosives, and betrayal. Can Erin and Rolf solve the killing before the bomber strikes again?

Another excellent addition

Steven Henry and Kristi Alsip do it again with another excellent installment in the Erin O’Riley mystery series. I look forward to the next one.

send in the CaValry not the caLvary

chapter one uses the term CaLvary which relates to the Crucifixion, instead of the correct term "send in the CaValry" (army). bad editing or misspoken?

Pleasantly surprised!

I really enjoyed this book. Much rather have a book playing than the TV. Narration was spot on. Storyline held your attention and had a bit of surprise at the end. I’ll look for more like this.

Luck of the Irish

Narrator was very good. Distinct difference in Caractors. Story got better as it went on. I had a hard time in the first three or four chapters. Loved the Irish broug.

Irish Car Bomb

Another great listen about NYC Detective Erin O’Reilly & her K9 partner Rolf. After being promoted, Erin is reassigned to a downtown precinct with a newly formed specialized group of detectives. Her orientation begins immediately when her group is dispatched to a detonated car bomb in an apartment bldg. I enjoyed the fast moving story line & the camaraderie of her fellow detectives. As the story evolves, it seems there’s more than originally meets the eye. I’m looking forward to book 3.

The story continues and grows.

Absolutely a captivating and intriguing story. In my humble opinion even better than book one. Kristi Alsip does a fantastic job on all the different dialects and voices.
When I find jewels like these, I support the hard work by purchasing both Kindle and Audible editions of the authors author's work.
Money well spent. A solid five stars.

Great story & characters, narrator so-so

I love the characters & story! Wish the narrator would talk closer to the mic, and would change the pitch of her voice more for the different characters.

" To the Irish without whom there would be no NYPD

...and without whom there would be no need [for the NYPD]" the final toast from the heroine Erin O'Reilly and her new friends (?) in the Irish mob, had me laughing out loud in my very quiet house. The second novel in the Erin O'Reilly series by Steven Henry I think is even better then the first. Henry's characters had me laughing and swearing at times. The many twists and turns in the plot kept me guessing clear to the very end whodunit. And as always it's hard not to love Erin's K-9 partner always faithful, and always dependable. Truly a girls best friend!

loved it! worth 5 stars if they'd been offered. I'm now officially a fan of Erin O'Reilly and Rolf. This is a fast paced story, relatively speaking. The best part is there are no drawn out explicit sex scenes in it. There are twists and turns, some of which may occur to the reader before the author gets there, but it can still be good to follow the story to the end. Best of all it has a K9 officer.
