Best of class

Michael Crichton reviews the issue of global warming logically and dispassionately. It is a real pleasure to hear a discussion that is not doctrinaire. I recommend this interview to anyone who possesses an open mind or who would like to.

A major loss

What a great writer and a good source of logic. Too bad someone of his mind is gone. The world lost a wonderment of talent.

Excellent!

A very informative and balanced interview with Michael Crichton on his book "State of Fear", but it really goes much deeper than that. Insight is given into how the book came about and also the life decision and conclusions that Crichton arrived at after 3 years of his own intense research. Highly recommended!!

A clear thinker

Such a tragedy he died so young. That he was ostracized for contending that it is pure hubris to make policy based on predictions of the state of a complex, chaotic system 100 years+ in the future shows how dysfunctional and politicized the soft sciences have become. His observation that religion is arguably an anthropological need that many satisfy with fundamentalist attitudes toward environmentalism is a devastating critique that is, of course, dismissed out of hand by those to whom it applies because that's what religious zealots do when their core beliefs are questioned.

This is a nice summary of Crichton's motivations in writing this book. Short and sweet.

A bit odd but revealing

A great interview with Michael, where he talks about his growing apathy toward politics and religion and his disdain toward the 'state of fear' in his book. Strange though, because I could have sworn most of his books take advantage of that fear as a primary plot point but don't actually attempt to deny the necessity of it. Ah well.
