Resumen del Editor

Benedick Hunter is a man who has lost everything. A failed actor and divorced father, his life takes on a new direction when he finds a book of his mother's in which real people and their stories are strangely interwoven with traditional fairy-tales. In 1965, Laura, an American illustrator of children's books, committed suicide in Primrose Hill after Benedick's father left her for another woman. Her son can remember nothing about her, but the fairy-tales and their tantalizing illustrations convince him that his own life is in some way echoing hers.

Unlikable lead charector

i had started listening to this book last year but couldn't finish because the reader was so convincing when he read the parts of the bratty temper tantrum children that it grated on my nerves, i finaly finished it this year because i am making myself listen to all the unfinished books i have before i let myself buy new ones. I still didn't like the lead character, i liked the sub plot , his mother was an author who wrote fairy tales and so they were read into the story, but i just couldn't deal with the whiny selfish lead character, and i found the main plot to predictable. The narrator i think captured the character, and the fairy tales were interesting so i gave it 2 stars, but overall it was boring and kind of annoying.

Unreliable narrator to the nth degree

If you can embrace being exasperated by the main character and his aggravating manic behavior then the book will pull you in. As a Brit living in California I find Amanda Craig writes extremely intelligently about the transatlantic experience. And I love her continual exploration of the magical within the mundane.
