Resumen del Editor

American Alexandra Freemar isn't about to put up with any flak from the uptight - albeit gorgeous - Scotland Yard inspector who accuses her of breaking and entering. She doesn't have time. She has two months in London to write the perfect romance novel - two months to prove that she can succeed as an author. Luckily, reserved Englishmen are not her cup of tea. Yet....

Listen if you want to feel better about yourself

I only listened to the end because I hate not finishing books and I also was hoping she would get better. Every time it looked like Alix was redeeming herself, she would take like 6 steps backwards. She's super delusional and thinks like the world is out to get her. I get that she has insecurities, we all do, but holy cheerios Batman. This was so painful to sit through. I would have rather learned about the other tenants. Bert and Ray sounded far more interesting than Alix and I would have rather heard about their than Alix's incessant complaining and accusations of rejection. I thought I was bad in my teenage years, I feel much better about myself after listening to this character. She got *slightly* better at the end and but man, it was a journey to get there. There are definitely better books out there if you would rather not listen to constant pity parties. I don't ever leave reviews but this was just hard.

blah *spoilers*

I have yet to finish this but wanted to get something up beforehand and hope that it changes. So far I cannot stand Alex. She is painfully dumb and the whole story feels like just that, a story. I've read supernatural books that are more realistic. Everything just feels over done or overdramatic. And the excerpts from the book Alex is trying to write; so much cringe it's painful. She clearly isn't a writer or even a romance reader so this desire to be a romance writer makes zero sense.
Only time will tell if I'm able to grit through this book.

Sadly the plot equals the quality of the story, bad

The plot of this story, about a woman writing a bad novel, came to fruition in this book. I never start a book without seeing it through which was the only reason I finished. The female protagonist is a dreadful sort of psycho personality. I cannot understand why the male lead did not jus move on. Not worth your time!

Ugh

Okay so I normally love Katie’s books soooo much but not this one. The main character is a selfish brat and I feel bad for her fella. The voice actor did well but she can only do so much to redeem it. I just hope you’re more prepared for the character than I was. Honestly I wish I hadn’t listened to the whole thing. At least we still have the guardian books which are fabulous!

Not as good as I hoped

This book is very silly. It starts off ok, but the main character is needy and insecure and won’t trust her own judgement. I tried to push through, but about half way through her and the love interest get into an argument that is horribly immature and almost insulting to adults with important jobs and real relationships. I had to stop listening. I find this part utterly annoying and ridiculous. If any real life woman acted like that and blamed her lover for what this character does, her friends and family would be appalled by her stupidity and selfishness not babying her like in this book. I hate to be harsh because I know how hard it is to write a book, but honestly I was so turned off by that part that I will not be finishing.

Badly written - Close but not quite

Couldn’t make it past chapter 6. The main character is a mess which is what was appealing about her character and story to begin with. This specific character could be really great! However, she’s so badly written you can’t stand her and all the time she spends in her own head space.

Laugh out loud funny with messy a heroine

I laughed so hard I cried early in the book. Then I was so frustrated with the heroine I wanted to find her and put her in therapy.. Although there are some issues that aren’t explained or resolved from her past and personality, I guess that’s how life truly is. Definitely, more growing to do from her character. If they were real people, I would want to check in on them in a year.

Good Story, but I’m torn!

This story was well written and generally fun. I really liked how the author structured the flashbacks and the characters are funny and likable, for the most part. Though generally likable, the main character is clueless, obnoxious, selfish, and unreasonable. She is also super annoying in the last few chapters! I know her personality flaws are part of the plot, but I think it was overdone. I was tempted to stop reading because she frustrated me so much!

I’m torn between three stars and four stars. Alexandra is so annoying that I want to shake her and yell the truth to her - I don’t enjoy that feeling. Thus, three stars. BUT, if the author wanted to convey those feelings of frustration and annoyance, she did a great job! Thus, four stars.

I think this is a little like how we all love to hate Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter. I hate that woman — but, then again, I’m meant to. If you don’t mind all these things, give this a try. It’s a cute story, if you can stand it.

I have never in 1500+ books disliked the heroin more!

I loved the Alex x 2. That was funny, and I had high hopes. didn’t care for this book. For the most part it was well written but it felt like I was missing something. I only felt the chemistry the first time they met. It was a long book and felt long. The heroine, Alex was a complete narcissist with very few redeeming qualities. And the other Alex, we’ll, I can’t see any self respecting guy putting up with such selfish and childish behavior. There were some funny points and I appreciated the well written and caring support characters. Their relationship with Alex(her) was the reason I kept going until the end. And I am glad I did. That chemistry was great!

Slapstick but also explicit

The opening sentences were so horribly graphic, I almost stopped there. But, as they were supposed to be the struggling, admittedly terrible, writing of the main character, I thought the parts that were not supposed to be her novel would be better. They're not purple prose, but still outrageous. I couldn't get past chapter 3. I expect the main character was supposed to be comedic, but she was just cringeworthy. I couldn't make it through that terrible dinner.
