After refusing Mr. Collins’ proposal, Elizabeth Bennet is forced to leave Longbourn and spend a season in London.
There, she meets a proud and enigmatic gentleman who, against all expectations, captures her heart. Yet their budding romance is tragically cut short, and months pass without a single word from him. When Elizabeth finally meets him again in Hertfordshire, he introduces himself as Fitzwilliam Darcy—a man identical to the one she once loved, yet inexplicably different in every way. Convinced that the man she cherished no longer exists, Elizabeth resolves to let him go.
Meanwhile, Mr. Darcy is bewildered by the spirited young woman whose lively voice and mesmerizing eyes stir emotions and memories he cannot explain. How can she feel so familiar when he is certain they have never met?

I liked the premise but the author had too much going on and it felt disjointed to me. Darcy comes off as a real a**hole without the excuse for crippling shyness. It is ironic that he doesn’t because in the original one could make a case that he is on the autism spectrum and his inability to relate to people causes him to hide behind a facade. It would have made sense to go in that direction since Lady Anne is described as being autistic. Here however, he is just a jerk and I am left thinking that he is a jerk who happens to love Elizabeth. In any event, it didn’t work for me.
There were no satisfying consequences for some of the villains. Caroline gets to be a big fish in a little pond; goodness knows what happened to LCdB, or Anne for that matter; the Bennets get off with no efforts required on their part. There is a sad side story about the Matlocks; a bomb shell about Georgie; no insight in why George Darcy treated his son the way he did. Who were the new set of relatives? Why would the Bingleys want to stay at Netherfield? With all the girls but Lydia gone, Mrs Bennet will be a constant irritant.
There were many good elements in the book but it pulled in too many directions.
The virtual voice was OK, could have been worse.
