Acerca de esta escucha
The best-selling memoir by Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
I Am Malala. This is my story.
Malala Yousafzai was only 10 years old when the Taliban took control of her region. They said music was a crime. They said women weren't allowed to go to the market. They said girls couldn't go to school. Raised in a once-peaceful area of Pakistan transformed by terrorism, Malala was taught to stand up for what she believes. So she fought for her right to be educated. And on October 9, 2012, she nearly lost her life for the cause: She was shot point-blank while riding the bus on her way home from school. No one expected her to survive.
Now Malala is an international symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner. In this young readers edition of her best-selling memoir, which has been reimagined specifically for a younger audience and includes exclusive photos and material, we hear firsthand the remarkable story of a girl who knew from a young age that she wanted to change the world - and did.
Malala's powerful story will open your eyes to another world and will make you believe in hope, truth, miracles, and the possibility that one person - one young person - can inspire change in her community and beyond.

She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive. Instead, Malala's miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York.

Historia
With humor and sincerity, Yousafzai describes his life before the Talibanization of Mingora, scenes of his sons Khusal and Atal fighting kites on the roof, his progressive partnership with his wife, Toor Pekai, and the challenge of raising children in an unfamiliar country. After Malala was shot by the Taliban, the Yousafzai family was completely uprooted from their home in the Swat Valley and forced to start over in the United Kingdom. Now, Ziauddin expresses the complex pain and joy of his return, six years later, to the site of Malala's attack.

This edition of Margot Lee Shetterly’s acclaimed book is perfect for young students. It's the powerful story of four African-American female mathematicians at NASA who helped achieve some of the greatest moments in our space program. Before John Glenn orbited the earth, or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as “human computers” used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets, and astronauts, into space.

"Ants are the most warlike of all animals, with colony pitted against colony.... Their clashes dwarf Waterloo and Gettysburg", writes Edward O. Wilson in his most finely observed work in decades. In a myrmecological tour to such far-flung destinations as Mozambique and New Guinea, the Gulf of Mexico's Dauphin Island and even his parents' overgrown yard back in Alabama, Wilson thrillingly evokes his nine-decade-long scientific obsession with more than 15,000 ant species.

Historia
During World War II a community called Manzanar was hastily created in the high mountain desert country of California, east of the Sierras. Its purpose was to house thousands of Japanese-American internees. One of the first families to arrive was the Wakatsukis, who were ordered to leave their fishing business in Long Beach and take with them only the belongings they could carry. For Jeanne Wakatsuki, a seven-year-old child, Manzanar became a way of life in which she struggled and adapted, observed and grew. For her father it was essentially the end of his life.

Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson always felt halfway home in each place. In vivid poems, she shares what it was like to grow up as an African American in the 1960s and 1970s, living with the remnants of Jim Crow and her growing awareness of the Civil Rights movement. Touching and powerful, each poem is both accessible and emotionally charged, each line a glimpse into a child's soul as she searches for her place in the world.

Magnificent
This was one of the very best books I have ever heard.
It contained just the amount of information, flow and details to not only inform but to elicit a desire to advocate for education and peace for everyone. Hearing Malala address the World co ngress at the end, in reciept of her Nobel Peace Prize was a treat. Malala has clearly demonstrated her power in speaking about and living social activisim,, strength and freedom.

Malala Thank you for your amazing story
When I got this audio book, I balked at listening to it. I didn't want to be horrified and depressed that a stupid terrorist organization had shot a young girl. I was wrong. Malala talks about her exciting life. She struggles to go to school and beat the other girls in her class for the top spots. She fights with her brothers over the remote. Moments of horror are arrested by the strength of her kindness and sense of humor. I can see why no terrorist organization had a chance against her. Her voice and strength of heart are unbeatable.

Wonderful heart-warming book. Malala courageous!
This is a very good book on Malala (and her family’s) courageous life story.
I can’t believe how the Taliban would shoot a 15 year-old girl in the head because she wanted herself and other girls to go to school! And President Biden just gave the country of Afghanistan back to the Taliban! Scary!
Malala tells an engaging story about her life and the reasons why the Taliban “needed” to shoot this little girl!
I cried many times. I can’t believe the pain and anguish she went through recovering from her assassination attempt by the Taliban. Also, what her father and mother went through seeing what their daughter went through—especially when they encouraged Malala to fight for human rights & education. This family is one tough and courageous family, helping people out, even though they may be killed by the Taliban.
I love the accompanying PDF with photographs of her family. I could put faces on the family. Also, there are nice time-lines.
Highly recommended!

Insightful and inspiring
She provides an honest, open view of a beautiful culture that too often is mid-associated with extremism. Truly inspiring, well written and thoughtful. It gave me a lot to think on and provided insight into countries we as Americans only ever see on the news as ‘the home of terrorism’.

Amazing story of patience, faith, and perseverance. Malala's vision at such a young age is inspiring. Her faith brought her to a place of peace many adults struggle to achieve. Cheers and the very highest blessings to you, my dear.
