Acerca de esta escucha
Back in the fictional Northern Ontario city of Lac-Sainte-Catherine, Mike Sauve takes listeners on a round-and-back adventure in the classic tradition of H.G. Wells, where two bumbling time travelers take a sad look at their past(s), their McDonald's issues and blackout binges, and their sentimental pratfalls and romantic flagellations, all to try and find their way home again.
In the third nonlinear installment of his L-S-C universe, first with a wraith, then with a plague, and now through time, the author again applies his slapstick sensibilities to the indignities of a small town upbringing, asserting that while our hometowns may have been good places to come from, they remain tricky places to return to - contemptuously, wistfully, or in this case, temporally.

For someone who made a career out of oversharing on the Internet, Tyler Oakley has a shocking number of personal mishaps and shenanigans to reveal in his first book: He experienced a legitimate rage blackout in a Cheesecake Factory; he had a fashion stand-off with the White House Secret Service; he crashed a car in front of his entire high school in an Arby's uniform; he projectile vomited while bartering with a grandmother.

A memoir of unblinking honesty and poignant, laugh-out-loud humor, Blackout is the story of a woman stumbling into a new kind of adventure - the sober life she never wanted. For Sarah Hepola, alcohol was "the gasoline of all adventure". She spent her evenings at cocktail parties and dark bars where she proudly stayed till last call. But there was a price. Publicly, she covered her shame with self-deprecating jokes, and her career flourished, but as the blackouts accumulated, she could no longer avoid a sinking truth.

*My name is Ellis DeAngelo.* I tend to get caught in the midst of trouble quite often. I'm an unlucky guy, but fortunate to have friends to help me out. Historia
Zack McDermott, a 26-year-old Brooklyn public defender, woke up one morning convinced he was being filmed, Truman Show-style, as part of an audition for a TV pilot. This was it - his big dreams were finally coming true. Every passerby was an actor; every car would magically stop for him; everything he saw was a cue from "The Producer" to help inspire the performance of a lifetime. After a manic spree around Manhattan, Zack, who is bipolar, was arrested on a subway platform and admitted to Bellevue Hospital.

Screw Everyone is comedian Ophira Eisenberg's wisecracking account of how she spent most of her life saying "yes" to everything - and everyone - and how that attitude ultimately helped her overcome her phobia of commitment. Skeptical about long-term relationships, Eisenberg approached dating as a sort of research experiment from early on: She spent her twenties traveling from futon to futon and gathering data, figuring that one day she'd put it all together somehow and build her own perfect Frankenmate.

Something was nagging Marina Shifrin. As a freshly minted adult with student loan payments and a “real” job she hated that paid her enough to get by if she also worked two other jobs, something needed to change. Marina and her friend each made lists of 30 things they’d do before the age of 30. The first thing on Marina’s list was, “Quit My Shitty Job”. So she did, and just like that the List powered her through her twenties. Told with humor and heart, 30 Before 30 will entertain, motivate, and challenge listeners to get out of their comfort zones and live their best lives.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"This time travel farce reads like a Philip K. Dick plot as channeled by a delirious Hunter S. Thompson. Sam McQuiggan is a divorced drunk earning minimum wage at the local Good Feels Fitness gym. Things can’t get worse, but they suddenly get strange when Sam is visited by a wayward alternate future version of himself. The two Sams hit it off, binging on booze, crack, and fast food. Reflecting on how their lives went so horribly wrong, the two hatch a crazed plan: they will travel back to a parallel past and save their younger self from becoming another deadbeat. But once back in 2001, high school Sam appears to be enjoying the love life they always dreamt of, and the future Sams may have just ruined it all by getting young Sam implicated in the accidental killing of his former best friend. As Sam continues to time-hop, causing irreparable damage everywhere he goes, he steadily realizes that it isn’t his past lives he needs to fix, but rather his present self. Sauve (The Apocalypse of Lloyd) crafts an inventive, lurid meditation on our relationship with technology and former mistakes. It’s frequently hilarious and, by the end, wrenchingly poignant." That all being said, I laughed out loud twice list
I honestly had no clue what I was going to get with this story. It was pretty much a story of how a guy can just keep messing up his life, with time travel and a future self of his to add more stupidity to the mix. They went back in time to fix his mistakes, but the mistakes happened because of who he is as a person. Only when he changed who he was, was when things started going right for him. There is a lot of mention of sex, drugs and what not to be aware of that.
That all being said, I laughed out loud twice listening to this story. It was entertaining to see how absurd it got, how much he could just keep repeating the same mistakes.
