Acerca de esta escucha
You easily can take a turkey if you don't make any mistakes, but you have to know what the deadly sins of turkey hunting are to keep you from making those mistakes. If you understand how to hunt a turkey, you're far more likely to take a gobbler than if you just know how to call a turkey. Of course, calling is important, and if you want to learn to call a turkey, Preston Pittman will teach you how to call turkeys with box calls, friction calls, diaphragm calls, and other turkey sounds. You'll also learn why Preston Pittman once put turkey manure all over his body to kill a tough tom. When you have turkeys that strut and drum in the middle of a field, when you know there's no way to get close enough to get a shot, Pittman will show you some weird tactics that have worked for him to help you hunt tough ole toms. But the main thing you'll learn in this book is how to become the turkey. "I try to look like a turkey, walk like a turkey, talk like a turkey, and think like a turkey," Pittman emphasizes. "When you become the turkey, you increase your odds for taking a gobbler by at least 1000%." Few men have dedicated their lives, futures and fortunes to understanding a single animal of God's great creation. The wild turkey gobbler, wherever it is found, has been Preston Pittman's passion his entire life. Using what he's learned while hunting wild turkeys, he's also become a master woodsman who can take most game, regardless of where he hunts. To learn more secrets about how to be a turkey hunter from one of the world champions of the sport, this turkey-hunting book with Preston Pittman is a must.

Whether debating bamboo versus graphite rods, describing the pleasure of fishing in pocket waters or during a spring snow in the mountains, or recounting a trip in pursuit of the "fascinatingly ugly" longnose gar, Gierach understands that fly-fishing is more than a sport. It's a way of life in which patience is (mostly) rewarded, the rhythms of the natural world are appreciated, and the search for the perfect rod or ideal stream is never ending.

From the irrepressible author of Trout Bum and The View from Rat Lake comes an engaging, humorous, often profound examination of life's greatest mysteries: sex, death, and fly-fishing. John Gierach's quest takes us from his quiet home water (an ordinary, run-of-the-mill trout stream where fly-fishing can be a casual affair) to Utah's famous Green River, and to unknown creeks throughout the Western states and Canada. We're introduced to a lively group of fishing buddies, some local "experts," and even an ex-girlfriend, along the way.

Historia
Paradise, Gierach shows us, is relative; it can be found in the guilty luxury of fishing private waters or when one is soaked to the skin, in a small canoe on a big lake in a storm a hundred miles from anywhere, exhilarated after a day's fishing. There are also pleasures to be found in unexpected places: solitary fishing trips, fishing for less-appreciated fish like carp, or meeting a guide who at first seems like an inarticulate ax murderer but who proves to be a "Zen master among fishing guides."

In Wildlife Wars, Terry Grosz serves up fascinating stories - alternately hair-raising, hilarious, and heart-wrenching - from his 30-year struggle to protect wildlife in America. A natural storyteller, Grosz writes about the remarkable characters he met - on both sides of the law - as he matched wits with elk poachers, salmon snaggers, commercial-market duck hunters, and a host of other law-breakers. Best of all, though, these stories are so remarkably entertaining you won't want to put them down.

LOADS of good info.
This, along with all of John Phillips books are stocked full of great information and experiences from many experienced hunters, though the constant URL spouted off throughout is something I could have done without. Personally, one should be able to research from the information provided without all of that.

Dangerous Turkey Hunting Taught!
What would have made How to Hunt Turkeys with World Champion Preston Pittman better?
The audio presentation was excellent! However, the many of the turkey hunting the author teaches are deadly dangerous! He talks about hunting with a hen decoy strapped to his head, crawling to sneak up on Toms, and walking with a turkey fan in front of him to get closer to Toms. EVERY one of these turkey hunting tatics should NEVER be taught unless a turkey hunters wants to get Shot and maybe killed by another hunter! Yes he does say these are unsafe, unless you know where you are hunting. However, even hunting private land could still get someone killed by doing any of these turkey hunting practices! You never know when someone may come along and accidentally mistake you for the real turkey and shoot you!
Would you ever listen to anything by John E. Phillips again?
No Never! In fact, I am returning my audio book!
What about John Davenport’s performance did you like?
The audio presentation was very well done!
What character would you cut from How to Hunt Turkeys with World Champion Preston Pittman?
The unsafe hunting practices that could get someone shot
Any additional comments?
