Elijah looked outside of his staid home, or at least this is what they called home. He turned to his twin sister, Grace, who stared at him. Both of them looked into each other's eyes - full of fear. It was a new home, a new place, and Elijah didn't feel safe there.

"I don't like this," the boy said. He was dressed in dirty rags consisting of a jacket, a torn shirt, and pants. His twin sister was dressed in a long-sleeved dress and tights, both of them looking like they haven't bathed in days - which was the truth - for this ghetto was the hell on earth that they were given.

"Do you know how to get out of here," she asked? "I don't. But I don't like this. The last thing I remember is being knocked out. I don't think we're in France anymore," Elijah said.

Grace and Elijah were originally from France, living there because it wasn't so bad. Then came the invasion of France by the German soldiers, and Elijah and Grace were both knocked out, both of them unsure of what they remembered. Elijah tried to fight; he knew that judging from the prominent bruises, but he didn't fight enough to die, which was a good thing because he needed to be there for Grace. He was the only family that she had, and she was his.

Terrible

I generally give good reviews, but honestly, this audible book was awful. The narrator had a very halting voice:

"The boy *pause* and *pause* the girl *paussssseeeeeeeeee* looked at .........*pause* * (insert 10 minute bathroom break)** each *pause* other."

The storyline was very vague and hard to follow. The whole thing only lasted 34 minutes. It never explains what happened to their parents, what year it is, or why the boy acts years older than his twin sister. And just when the book gets to the point where the twins are about to make their escape? That's it. It's over. We don't hear if they escaped, if the guards saw them, anything. Just a very abrupt ending. Not worth the money.
