Heartfelt

The story was so deep. I appreciated it because it was glimpse on what people who identify as LGBTQ have to face. I like the realness of their story and that it wasn’t just about the long lasting attraction between two men. I cried a couple times.
Thank you for that.

Emotionally Heavy

This book was by far the most emotionally challenging I have read in years, however Riley did an exceptional job of presenting the hardships, difficulties, and anguish of our LGBTQ citizens, thank you for bringing these problems to the surface for all to appreciate, and be empathetic with. I love this book and it’s characters, let’s all take notice, love and understanding is the answer.

Heavy on the angst

Generally Riley Hart books have a bit more levity. Not this one. It’s really good. Great characters and development. But man it was serious.

phenomenal

I will start by saying that I don't usually gravitate toward angsty books. But ....Riley Hart has written this story so well that I have spent much of the last few hours crying my dang eyes out listening to it. And yet, I love it so much. I would actually like to know more about how Roman and Leo work things out. Does Roman ever have a relationship with Anthony? So many questions. That's why it gets 5 stars from me.

Book or play

The story itself was pretty good. I love the way it had the many twists and turns in it. After having listened to a number of Riley Heart’s books, I feel that this one was a not one of her most notable works.
The narrator made it hard for me to immerse myself into the book the way I like to. He overly dramatic in the wrong places. I can say overall though it was a good book and I enjoyed listening to it.

Beautiful story

Leo and Roman broke my heart and I loved every minute of it. And I swear I love any book the Joel Leslie narrates.

Relevant story line and love that meant to be

It’s not my favourite due to the fact that the story line circles around the past which is realistic but not always written realistically for me. Either do more and do it fully or less. I by accident skipped 10 min and couldn’t be bothered to rewind. Wasn’t worried I miss something as it was quite repetitive. And even the brother story line was not a surprise.
But altogether a love story that shows you can meet the one early and even if you change - he is still the one.
Joel Lesley as always needs a bit getting used to sue to his voice vibrations but I actually enjoyed him reading the characters.

This would have completely been a 5-star if we had a different narrator. Now I don’t mind Joel some of the time but man the almost yelling in the smexy scenes takes you right out of the story.

These two men will break your heart. This book shows you just how harmful homophobia is honest to God, this broke my heart. I think it was doubly worse because it was family.
I guess I will never understand why it matters to anyone else who you love.

This is a second-chance romance that needed to happen. The hurt and the pain they both go through only to come together and be stronger for it. It’s a story that needs to be told. I almost DNF’d because of the narrator and that would have been a shame.

Okay, entertaining story

This story was good and interesting. It is an emotional, second chance story. Roman and Leo connected as kids and as complete opposites and different sides of the tracks with Roman's dad being a criminal and Leo's being a judge. They also were both hiding the fact that they liked other boys and their first initiation of it was each other. They fell in love and were planning to get through school and leave together as soon as they could. But that was stolen from them viciously and Leo never really knew why. It caused Roman to try and block it all out, rewrite history some and live a lie for the next twelve years. Until he sees Leo again. He causes a immediate reaction in Roman and something that he is struggling to unbury and understand but that connection to Leo is still there and keeps drawing him back, even though it doesn't make sense with what he has made himself believe. He has to unravel that truth and in the midst of it all, the truth comes out to Leo as well about what happened all those years ago. While trying to figure this out, the connection between them blazes to life and is undeniable and they start something back up again. They both have to figure out how to work through the hurts and what they are looking for. Leo doesn't do relationships, not since Roman. The story was well written and flowed well. It was engaging for the most part and interesting. It really does focus on Roman and Leo and how they deal with the past and future as it collides together and dealing with the trauma and hurt that was caused years ago. They have to find and hold onto their truth and fight to heal for a happy ending.
The narrators did a good job with the story and all the emotions the characters were going through.
