Out of bail skippers and rent money, Stephanie throws caution to the wind and follows in the entrepreneurial footsteps of Super Bounty Hunter, Ranger, engaging in morally correct and marginally legal enterprises. So, a scumball blows himself to smithereens on her first day of policing a crack house and the sheik she was chauffeuring stole the limo. But hey, nobody's perfect! Anyway, Stephanie has other things on her mind. Her mother wants her to find Uncle Fred who's missing after arguing with his garbage company; homicidal rapist Benito Ramirez is back, quoting scripture and stalking Stephanie; vice cop Joe Morelli has a box of condoms with Stephanie's name on it; and Stephanie's afraid Ranger has his finger on her trigger. The whole gang's here for mirth and mayhem in Janet Evanovich's High Five. Listen at your own risk in public places.©1999 Janet Evanovich; (P)1999 Audio Renaissance, a division of Holtzbrinck Publishers, LLC Comedia Romántica Detectives Mujeres Ficción y Crimen Literatura y Ficción Misterio Ingenioso

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Actress Mazar has just the right sassy streetwise accent to fit the first-person voice of Evanovich's hero, Stephanie Plum. Mazar sounds poised yet real in her role as the New Jersey-based bounty hunter. She gamely throws herself into the dramatic ‘bits' along the way, playing out the dialogue scenes with relish.” —Publishers Weekly

I often could not understand what the reader said. Her accent was cute but she spoke way way to fast. I wondered if she spoke so fast because it was an abridged version, which I have never bought before. I'm leery about buying book 6 as it's the same reader and abridged. I may just skip to book 7.

Good storyline awsome writer but the narrater of this particular audio version is awful. If you can I would skip the Audio Book and get the paperback.

The story is alright and the minimal romance leaves me wanting more of the story. However, the next book is narrated by Debi Mazar, as this one was. I like her as an actress but very much dislike her as a narrator. I don't want to listen to her in another book but want to know the story. What to do, what to do.....

Debi Mazar is a good actress, bad narrator.

Can't stand this narrator but really want to hear the whole series. At least it was abridged and I didn't have to put up with her for too long. One more with her. Sigh.

Hate the narrator!

liked the story did not like the narrator!! she read too fast ran sentences together and did not give the characters life like the narrator in the first 4 books!!

no life to the characters

I would have no idea what is happening. I can't understand half of what this woman is saying. She talks way too fast and way too "mush mouthed" to be a narrator or voice actor. I can't even figure out where the end of sentences are.

The storyline is great but the performance ruins it. Oh, and why does she change the pronunciation of a main character's name?! It hurts my soul.

If I hadn't already read the book...

Too short, however, the terrible narration made me thankful that it wasn't any longer. I seriously hope this was an anomaly.

Amateur reader

There was no differences in character voices and she read so fast that you would think SHE had to go to the bathroom. No drama at all, no periods, no exclamation points, her voice was awful.

Awful narrator; the story was okay.

I had a hard time getting through this particular book in the series by reading it. I thought the audiobook might help! It did! I LOVE Debi Mazar as the narrator for the Stephanie Plum books.

Loved it!

I am so glad that I found this hilarious mystery series about the exploits of Stephanie Plum, the klutzy bounty hunter. I have become invested in the colorful characters.

In this installment, Stephanie is out to find her missing uncle and there are more colorful characters that surface. She stumbles into a major embezzling scheme involving several murders closely related to her uncle's disappearance. Here lies the mystery in the novel.

Her love-life gets a little complicated with both Morelli and Ranger.

This book, like the others in the series, has a lot of action and tons of laughs. Grandma Mazur, one of my favorite characters, had me doubled over with laughter regarding her stun gun. The car scenes also cracked me up. These are only a drop in the bucket of the non-stop laughing out loud incidents as the mystery unfolds.

I am glad that I do not have to wait for the next book since the ending of this one is a cliffhanger.

Hope someday Stephanie gets one up on Ranger.

Hilarious mystery - Evanovich does it again
