Fun coming of age story

Interesting premise with solid characters. A good story about being yourself and not holding back. looking forward to their next adventure.

Bubblegum-punk superhero action with real heart

It's surprising, funny, and action-packed. The character work is Khun's strength - every character subverts expectations eventually. Definitely worth a listen.

Meh

I feel like all the characters had the depth of a 1980s Teen sitcom, and the plot points were about the same. Whole bunch of random stuff happened and suddenly insecure girl is a hero. Everyone snarky and unkind everyone else. I made it almost to the end. It was just in the wrap up chapter 2 that I gave up since she was creating stupid drama, and people are keeping secrets from one another for no reason just so you have a second book and you can have bad drama in that second book.

Was recommended but it wasn’t for me.

This book was highly recommended by people who are big fans of a genre I’m not a big fan of. That being said, I like superhero books, fantasy books, science fiction books, and I hated this book. I gave it four hours. I was trying to let it warm my interest, and it never happened. I guess I felt like the main characters were either weak or manipulative and it’s too much like real life LOL in that uncomfortable way of “I would have just walked away from that bullsh*t” so it was hard for me to enjoy. Also, I just never cared about what was happening. I suspect I was the wrong person for this book, as opposed to this book being a bad read.
