Historia
Herman Melville is one of the greatest figures in literary history. His classic Moby Dick is generally considered the finest novel ever written by an American. Yet in Melville’s day, Typee was a far more popular book. Largely autobiographical, this classic adventure story is set in the South Seas, where a runaway sailor is captured by the Typees. Described as “a fierce and unrelenting tribe of savages," the islanders have no intention of letting their captive go.

Resumen del Editor
Unique to this title is:
- A Historical Introduction
- An Overview of Moby Dick
- A Study of The Themes Present in Moby Dick
- A List of Famous Quotes from Moby Dick
You may, of course, skip all of it and go straight to the main title if you do not want any spoilers and come back later to the beginning.
Herman Melville was an American novelist, short story writer, and poet. He was also a teacher, sailor, lecturer, and customs inspector.
Melville was born in New York City in 1819 as the third child of a successful merchant. He started his education at the age of five, but when he was seven, he contracted scarlet fever which affected his eyesight permanently.
Although his father described him as "very backwards in speech and somewhat slow in comprehension", over time, Melvill's development improved considerably.
The book revolves around the hunt for the giant white sperm whale called Moby Dick. During the previous hunt, captain Ahab had his leg bitten off at the knee. He is determined to catch Moby Dick this time. The book is sailor Ishmael's narrative of the obsessive quest for Moby Dick.
The novel begins with a famous line: “Call me Ishmael.” Ishmael, the narrator of Moby Dick, wants to get away from New York City and decides to find a job on a whaling ship. He had worked as a sailor before, but not as a whaler. He travels to Massachusetts and stays in a whalers' inn.
Since the inn is full, he is forced to share a bed with a harpooner from the South Pacific called Queequeg.
Enjoy this timeless classic!

Historia
On one level...Melville’s tale is an historical adventure telling the story of life aboard ship shortly after the mutiny at Spithead in 1797. Billy is taken from a homeward bound merchantman to serve on the ‘Seventy Four’ HMS Indomitable. He falls foul of Claggart, the ‘Master at Arms’, and the final confrontation results in death. Billy becomes an unwilling martyr - what passes for justice must be implemented because of the rebellious climate of the time.

Historia
Robinson Crusoe is one of the most enduring adventures of the past four centuries and one of the most well-known works in the English language. Or is it? Recently discovered amidst the papers of the 20th-century writer and historian H. P. Lovecraft is what claims to be the true story of Robinson Crusoe. Taken from the castaway's own journals and memoirs, and fact-checked by Lovecraft himself, it is free from many of Defoe's edits and alterations. From Lovecraft's work a much smoother, simpler tale emerges - but also a far more disturbing one.

Bad narration
I enjoy the story of Moby Dick, but the narration really ruined this for me. The delivery was awkward and stilted, almost like a computer generated text to speech program and the audio quality was pretty low.

I’ve still never finished this book
This is the only book I’ve read/listened to by this author but the second audio rendition. I’ll admit, I only have ever listened to a portion of this book. I generally listen at work and I listen to a lot of audiobooks. This one, I had to concentrate too much on listening. I listened to all the extra parts provided by the producers of this book. I really like the addition of this information and think it adds to the audiobook.
This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brianna Fernandez ). Her inflection/ emphasis makes it hard to tell difference between narrative and characters conversations. She has a slight distinction in character voices but it’s all read with same cadence and expression. Seems to me this is a tricky book to narrate?
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
