Resumen del Editor

On April 15, 1912, Lydia Beaumont is on her way to a new life with a boundless hope in love and faith. Her new friendship with Caroline Chadwick is bonded even more as they plan Lydia's wedding on board the "grandest ship ever built." Then both women suffer tragic losses when the "unsinkable" Titanic goes down. Can each survive the scars the disaster left on their lives?

Decades later, Alan Morris feels like a failure until he discovers he is the descendant of an acclaimed, successful, heroic novelist who went down with the Titanic. Will he find his identity with the past, or will he listen to Joanna Bettencourt, Caroline's granddaughter, who says inner peace and success come only with a personal relationship with the Lord? Will those who survived and their descendants be able to find a love more powerful than their pain?

Easy listen...

What did you love best about Hearts that Survive?

This one's an easy listen with enough intrigue and suspense to be engaging, but not so deep that you have to remain super-focused to get it. Great commute read!

What other book might you compare Hearts that Survive to and why?

Danielle Steel's "No Greater Love." Girl falls in love on the Titanic, boy drowns on Titanic, life forever changed...

Any additional comments?

I know people are going to say this story has been told before and complain about that, and it's all true. If you're looking for something about the Titanic that's new and different, go for Hazel Gaynor's "The Girl Who Came Home." But if you're looking for an easy listen, clean romance, with a famous historical event (Titanic fans anyone?) - then this book is perfect for those folks. I enjoyed for what it is!

Heart Warming Tale of Love and Perseverance

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It was rich with historical detail and the characters quickly captured my attention. The author did a fantastic job of making the characters real and their stories believable. I am
am recommending this book to friends and family.

boring story

I couldn't finish. The performance was great, but the story was a Big Fat Flop!

Preachy waste of time

This story could have been set on any ship except Titanic and still “worked.” It seemed like there were more elements from the movie (the rich person who just happened to have a gown the heroine could use) than more concentrated research.

Characters were. poorly portrayed and one dimensional. At one point, Captain Smith is described as smirking! And, apparently, it was the fashion to ‘gift’ something as extravagant as a first wedding reception—by the Astors no less!

Never mind that the Astors were dealing with a scandal: Madeleine was very obviously pregnant and JJ had divorced his former wife to marry his mistress, though he had children from that marriage.

The prose is a fishing, girlishly breathless diatribe that screeches out of any real narrative sense by giving very purple introspective prose about God.

The reincarnation angle is incoherent and as over the top as the first half. The epilogue is literally a Bible quote.

Skip this. It reads more like a fan fiction where someone replaced Jack and Rose with these others and began writing after binging too many Girl Defined videos.
