Hated...

This is an interesting story. I grabbed it because it had mafia elements. This is about the son of high ranking mafia and a girl who is indebted to them. It does get confusing at times. There are different gang references and different level mafia references. Then the debt is mentioned being owed a couple times but then not again. The family is beat up often due to Gang rivals and a multitude of other things i didn’t understand. I just let some of that go and tried to concentrate on the main story.

I listened to this on audio. Maryalice Multari Is the narrator. She did have a number of times that she reread the same passage. But for the most she did fine.

Interesting

Very good book. Interesting events happening here. Well written by the author. Performed awesomely. Story was intriguing. Different for me not my normal genre.

Hatred

It has a good story line that kept me interested to keep listening to the end.

Sweet with Some Action

I really enjoyed this story. There were bits that had the feel of Romeo and Juliet in it, but much easier to understand and updated for the times. I really enjoyed getting to know Antonio and Stephanie. There were parts that sucked for these two and many sweet moments between them also. I loved the sound of Maryalice reading, but there were some parts that repeated and some that skipped. I also wasn't a fan of the background white-noise that never seemed to go away too.

Good story but not my favorite narration

I enjoyed this story, however I feel like I would have liked it more in book/ebook form. I hate leaving reviews when I wasn't really satisfied, but it wasnt so much the book as it was the narration. I felt like the narrator was a bit hard to hear and seemed really detached. It felt like someone was reading me a book in the background rather than capturing the essence of the characters and making me feel like I'm in the story.

In the beginning of the book, things are a little confusing. There is a lot of jumping around and switching between dates, times, and character POV. it gets better though and things start adding up. I love the connection between the main characters. Stephanie is such a strong female character who has overcome all the terrible things life has thrown her way. She never gives up fighting, even when she is breaking. Antonio hides behind his emotionless mask, until Stephanie makes him want to feel again. This is a good story with a HEA.

Story was good but narration felt short

I enjoyed the story and liked the overall plot but somehow the narration felt short and narrator was not able to keep me captivated throughout. It felt very monotonous . But I really enjoyed the story and ended up buying the story so I could read it .

Great listen

First I will say audio is definitely not my favorite way to delve into a book. I am a fast reader so...well if you listen to audio you understand how slow it is. However, I actually really liked this story and the narrator did an amazing job. That is saying a lot coming from me..I am not one for talking during a "story" but I would definitely listen to her again

With some editing and a different narrator it could have been a compelling story

This is the story of Antonio and Stephanie. The book had a plot that could have been compelling but portions of the book kept repeating itself.

This was a new narrator to me and seemed flat. Like they were just reading the book to me.

Although I liked the storyline. I was confused much of the time about if I was in the present or the past. And I was never sure why dates and times were so important to the story. Past and present day would have been sufficient. It was really hard when I would leave the book and come back to it.

Some words were overused in my opinion such as mafia. This author shows promise and maybe if I had read the book instead of listening to it I might have liked it better.

DNF :(

Okay...maybe I didn’t give this book a million chances, but 7 starts was enough. First, the narrator was terrible...she just wasn’t that good. Not to mention the sound quality and editing was really bad. You can hear stuff in the background or maybe it was recorded between a bathroom and a closet bcz parts of it sounds like there’s a slight echo and parts sound as if it’s somewhat normal. Also- I couldn’t differentiate between characters bcz there was barely a change in the tone or cadence of her voice. Just when I thought one character was speaking, nope...turns out it was another.

On to the story- The synopsis was great but when I started it, I sort of felt like I was in the middle of book 2 (if there is one) when I was listening to book 1. It’s all over the place and I couldn’t grasp where things were going. I hate to say it but I just sort of lost interest and gave up. I feel awful bcz I was given a credit for honest feedback and I have to be honest. I know honesty hurts at times, but it’s truly a gift. Like if you had a HUGE boogie in your nose and thought you looked hot, wouldn’t you want your friend to tell you before you see, “that guy”?! I applaud all artists who put there trying to make their way in this crazy world, really I do. But at the end of the day no one truly successful hasn’t come across failure or an opportunity to improve at some point in their career. I think this book could be an example of future greatness. I would take the same plot and fill in the gaps then get a new narrator with a studio and editor then try again. Please know this isn’t me being mean- it’s honest. ❤️
