Resumen del Editor

Are you exhausted? Women today really do feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. Every morning we are greeted with a long list of to-dos: get the kids up and out the door on time, have a meaningful quiet time, put in a full day at the office, spend an hour at the gym, prepare a healthy and delicious meal (organic and locally grown, of course), and make sure the sink sparkles before you go to bed. Oh, and don’t forget to look great and smile while you’re doing it. These are all good things to do, of course. But the bigger problem occurs when we start to feel as if our worth is measured by our to-do lists. And the messages we receive at church, on Facebook, and from the media only perpetuate these unrealistic expectations, creating a relentless cycle of exhaustion. As Elyse Fitzpatrick has traveled this country, she has seen increasing evidence of this weariness epidemic invading our churches and communities. And she has good news for women everywhere: there is hope! God doesn’t judge us by our to-do lists. Free yourself today from the endless stream of bad advice and discover the true rest God offers.

Grace laced encouragement for the soul

As women we are spoon fed lies from the cradle to the grave, both in and out of the church. This book was a soothing balm for my weary soul in countering a lot of those lies. Not specifically, but in a general application of God’s grace and what it actually looks like. It’s not a to-do list or feel good program. His grace is our salvation.
This book is a fantastic addition to my library. I will definitely be listening again.

A book that brings a bit of contentment in Christ

Where does Good News for Weary Women rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I bought this book on audio because I don't have to the time to read it right now and I am really enjoying using otherwise lost moments to listen to this book. Mrs. Fitzpatrick has a way of using scripture that seems to speak right where I am at and I feel like I can take a breath and for this moment not feel the relentless pressure to "do do do." My church is studying this book and as one friend said, "I feel content with where the Lord has me." That is such a rare thing in this world right now and the ability to see that being content in all things is good and right and possible was made clearer by reading this book.

What other book might you compare Good News for Weary Women to and why?

I think this is as good as Mrs. Fitzpatrick's other books and very much on par with John Piper.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite part of the book is the vignettes where she debunks lies women believe about themselves and the world around them by saying the actual things women believe and then the truth that scripture speaks to those lies.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The title is better than I can say it, Rest for Weary Women.

Narrator

Hard to listen to this narrator. I think the message was good but couldn't get past the voice to finish :(

Complaining

Struggled to finish this book because the author constantly complained about everything in her life.

Rough

I struggled to listen, narrator sounds very mono-tone. Overall good message, but I should have just read it myself.
