Resumen del Editor

In the winter of 1897, Hammond Fontenot led a secret expedition out through the gates of Belle La Vie and vanished. Now 77 years later in the winter of 1974, it is up to Armond Fontenot, along with his partner Private Detective Moses Byone, to answer the question of his great grandfather's disappearance.

On the mysterious and deadly path that leads them deep into the heart of swamp country, Armond and Moses face a chilling discovery as they uncover the truth about Hammond's search for the Gold of the Lost Souls.

maybe this book was better than the first

as I said the description of the place and the timeline was great in the book The Story itself although was lacking was quite better then the first book unfortunately the narrator wasn't enough he was reading the book very fast like he wanted to get over with the book but the book itself was actually better than the first one

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Great mystery 2

Another good mystery with Armond and his crew. they still had their quirks, but the story really moved along and you enjoyed it All the characters had their wits about them when they need it to show up and you like the way the narrator told the story. Story wasn't boring and you didn't fall asleep listening to the narrator either. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.

Good read!

This book is more compelling than the previous, or maybe I just prefer chasing a legend. The tale covers both the disappearance of Armond's greatgrandfather in 1897 chasing an obsession involving The Order and doing something similar in 1974 while some really nasty goons from The Order try to get to the object first. Armond wanted to know what really happened to his ancestor but also hoped to find treasure in the bayou. Sounded like a plan to me. I loved it!
I also think that narrator Nicholas Patrella refined his presentation and really got into it more this time.
I also won this audiobook in a giveaway! Wonderful!

A little better

How could the performance have been better?

Narration of this book has the same problem that the first book had. The narrator read the book very fast, overshooting the pace of the story. It didn't feel like a story-teller is telling me a thrilling story. It felt more like listening to a fast-forward reel. The narrator should've varied his reading speed based on the tempo of the chapter being read.

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

This second book is moderately better than the first book. Both books are more or less same, having same strong qualities (scene setup) and same drawbacks (narration). Where book two excels in comparison is the story. First book's story had gone stale after initial chapters, but this book manages to keep going. It's still not as unique and yet thrilling I would've wanted it to be, but seeing that the plot is improving in this book makes me hopeful that the author's next book will be even better.
