With a large, exceptionally dumb goblin and an ancient, crotchety goblin who can barely walk as his unwanted sidekicks - and pursued by a goblin who's certain that she's meant to be the true goblin hero - Jig sets out for ogre territory. After all, being killed by a magical enemy that can terrify an ogre is probably no worse than being killed by your "friends"....

great story

started off a little slow but really kept my attention and had a great storyline that was not easily anticipated

A goblin can be a hero, and he can't avoid it

Love the series, rare to see many majority/totally nonhuman casts in major fiction for novels. Jig as simple want s, but like any reluctant hero, life won't let him have what he wants. Enjoy the chaos!

Goblins Quest Trilogy

My favorite audio book ever! Excellent story and characters and performers! I have listened ro this trilogy 3 times now!

This book was so so good I loved this book and the production the made it come alive!

A great story

The series just keeps getting better. I’m almost sad that there is only one book left in it. I’m definitely looking forward to it though.

Deus vult and chunibyo goblin wizard

Following the events that had taken place in the Goblin Quest (Jig the Goblin, #1) book, story takes place underground in the caves that the ancient wizard had made, the home of the expired legendary dragon. Unlike the first book all acting characters are from depth dwellers. Great cast of new nuanced and full fledged characters are introduced: the second follower of the Shadowstar, the elderly nursery worker, the slash (hobgoblin) etc. The chunibyo (aka eight grader syndrome) goblin wizard received a lot of storytelling time and she's certainly a bad role model - manipulative, narcissistic, brazen, hot headed. The elderly nursery worker goblin being the wise elder and seeing through the ruse of goblin captain and following Jig into the exile/adventure most likely to ensure the tribes survival (occupying a spot of otherwise maybe assassin, as well as acting as the voice of the reason). In goblin harass goblin world, being the butt of a joke is a valid survival tactic.

Interesting to see the interactions between goblins and hobgoblins, also the fact that in the background events between book 1 and book 2 of Jig the Goblin Jig had arranged a truce between the two tribes. It's a shame that readers spend much less time with the orcs who also are part of the mountain dwellers, they mostly served as danger markers for the pixies. And pixies themselves lack any redeeming qualities, while the working casts actions certainly are being influenced against their own will by the mind altering nature of queen pixie's being. The growth of the goblins as a society is most prominent when the female goblin that followed Jig into the pixie queen's lair takes a step against her base survival and life long fear-instilled instincts saving Jig's life.

Conclusion: 2/5. Included in US Plus Catalog. The Tymalous Shadowstar acts as a driving force for this story. Which is a grand universe building tool, as possibly Shadowstar has become invested in the mountain living folk's fate and wants his followers to multiply and spread his fame as a deity to gain new followers. And again the story felt very rushed. Mystery introduced, evildoer unveiled, gathering of allied forces of good and eliminating evil all in one book.
