Fav Blake P series but…

Story, as always, has me hooked. Narrator is good except for Ella’s voice. Ella Dark is a badas🤬, not a cartoon. Her voice should be at least as strong as the other characters. She sounds like a child in this narration. I prefer no voice changes to the cartoon Ella voice. I bought the book to avoid listening to the rest of this audio. Perhaps that was a clever marketing plan -?

Real Author or Just AI?

Seems these recent installments have all been written by AI and then not edited. Same old formula, new characters and motives. Once again it was replete with similes, metaphors and outdated colloquialisms. The most overused word this time was “punters” but some of the previous redundancies were revisited. Sadly all these grammatical issues really distract the reader, taking away from the overall story.

The narrator did a decent job, however I don’t buy her as a 30-something bad-ass FBI agent. Her voice for Ella wavers between sounding like Ella’s mom and sounding like a child.

I see that there are several more releases planned for this series, and as a completist I don’t feel like I can just stop reading them mid stream. But I certainly hope something is done to return the series to its original quality for the remaining books.

I’ve read theories that there is no “Blake Pierce” and that instead these books are written by a conglomerate of writers. However I’d be willing to wager that they are indeed written by AI, and that Blake Pierce is a pen name used to cover up this fact.
