Reseñas editoriales

A secret germ laboratory on Plum Island in New York...a shadowy biodefense facility with public funds in rural Kentucky...pork barrel politics by U.S. Representative Hal Rogers...mysterious personal tragedies befalling opponents of germ warfare...Germs Gone Wild: How the Unchecked Development of Domestic Bio-Defense Threatens America sounds like a Robert Ludlum novel. But its author, Kenneth King, insists its contents are fact and must be dealt with urgently.

Performed by the friendly, believable voice of southern actor, Brian Troxell, this audiobook is a heavily researched screed arguing that America’s development of biological weapons poses a far greater danger than any potential biological attack by America’s enemies.

Resumen del Editor

A shocking expose of the reckless proliferation of bioweapon research and development facilities across the U.S. - and the threat this poses to everyday Americans. Battling a new generation of corporate giants and uncovering threats right in our own backyard, Kenneth King’s Germs Gone Wild reveals the massive expansion of America’s biodefense research labs and the culture of deception surrounding hundreds of facilities that have opened since 9/11.

And yet the greed that drove the development of these labs has effectively counteracted any cautionary checks by the government and universities. All have been seduced by the economic gains and corporate stipends that come with compliance and turning a blind eye.

King examines the controversies surrounding plants from Maryland to Boston and Utah, to the Department of Homeland Security’s dubious National Bio-and-Agro-Facility (NBAF) project, and the precautions - or lack thereof - being taken to protect us all from a deadly pandemic.

SMUG

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The author has a valid argument but the snarky, MSNBC smugery tone really detracts from the importance of the topic.

What was most disappointing about Kenneth King’s story?

The author continually makes the assertion that he has a PhD and a JD and that these gives him the expertise and authority on this subject, equivalent with infectious disease specialists. In a book where the author documents a collection of half-truths and lies by omission by various officials it is is dissapointing to learn that his PhD is in poetry, not microbiology, virology, immunology, general biology, or any other science discipline. The lack of a PhD in some field of science doesn't invalidate the author's opinion but he definitely must think so or he wouldn't stress he has a PhD but consistently omit the field it was done in. It's not even on this web page. I had to go the Nebraska ETD website. But this fact does help explain several of the minor factual errors (but not fatal errors) in some of his anecdotes.

So much Political Bias

The “Author” should have started this biased Excrement with “I’m a crybaby Liberal that will blame EVERYTHING on Conservatives, while Glossing over what his Communist Comrades haven’t done to reign in DHS with their Bio-Terrorism Fear Mongering.

Disappointed

Would you try another book from Kenneth King and/or Brian Troxell?

No

Would you ever listen to anything by Kenneth King again?

No

What didn’t you like about Brian Troxell’s performance?

The only thing good was how he expressed the anger of the author.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

An angry author, but angry at what or who. Are we supposed to believe that since the beginning of germ research that there hasn't been a Democratic President? Or maybe all germ research was halted while a Democrat was President? I would recommend the author listens to "Practicing Mindfulness" maybe he could work out his anger toward Republicans.
