Resumen del Editor

The long-awaited sequel to Time and Again . Si Morley is back and the world may never be the same.

When Time and Again was published in 1970, it immediately developed a loyal following that has grown with each passing year. With this book, Jack Finney returned to the same magical territory and finds Ruben Prien still at work with the Project, still dreaming of altering man's fate by going back in time to adjust events... to interfere, some might say, with destiny.

Once again, the conduit to that bygone era is Simon Morley, the man who actually proved himself capable of traveling back and forth in time. This time, he does so with a grand purpose: an attempt to prevent World War I.

From Time to Time is a tale that is both thrilling and nostalgic, magical and terrifying, charming and full of suspense.

Too much space filler. But has some really good parts too

After the first book, I was very interested to see how this one would go. I liked the first one and hoped the sequel did not disappoint as they usually do. Well in the first few hours the book was amazing. Jack Finney really writes about time travel on par with Back to the future. But then unfortunately the book did the same thing that he first book did only to an almost comical length. I would say chapters 14-19 can just be omitted all together. Nothing pertaining to the book is in them. Just unrelated information about random things. The first book had some of that but this book took it to a whole new level. The only reason I stayed with it is because I know that there will be a punch line in the end. Boy did it take forever to get there though.
I feel that too much time was wasted on that part of the book. The last few chapters tell a great story but the whole book is wrapped up in the final chapter and really in the last 5 minutes. It leaves you with a sense of being cheated because you stayed with the book babbling for hours only to have punch line be about 5 minutes long.
I wish he spent as much time on the specifics of the last few hours as he did on the specifics of the middle where I almost left the book.
The reader did a great job. I would listen to more of his reads.
If there was another sequel to this book, I would NOT read it. Not after this one. Too much twaddle.

Good fun but not too deep

Good read if you like descriptions and some characters.
Requires suspension of belief even considering premise.

Main character responds to non existent concerns even within conventions of plot but it does lead to enjoyed plot turns.

Needs more plot

I lived Time and Again for its vivid description of New York AND its application to the plot and suspense of the story. Time to Time starts with promise but I found myself bogged down for a large part of the story. The description of 1911 New York was great but, since it didn't develop the plot as well I got bored at times. Nice to revisit Sy and see where he settled.

a pretty good time exploration book in a line of similar Jack Finney books. not my favorite of all but a good, pretty consistently entertaining listen.

So slooooow

The first book was gripping, and a well written story with a lot to say. This one struggled to go anywhere. Overly descriptive and nostalgic as if it were a period piece movie where the actors love playing dress up, it drags in the middle, the plot not advancing for what seemed like hours.
I finished it, but I would not recommend it.

The Fate of a Sequel

Ever have the feeling when reading a book that you must have skipped a page (or two, or three… or ten) because the story suddenly makes NO SENSE?

This is the sensation I had throughout most of this book. I can’t tell you with any certainty if it’s the story jumping around or if it’s my attention fading in and out but I was clearly not as riveted to this book as I was to Book 1! ("Time and Again" - Excellent!!) I think I missed a few crucial threads early on.

It’s the fate of a sequel I guess; the better the predecessor, the higher the standards for the following instalments.

It had the potential to be better.

Did the author lose interest or was the book finished by another author who lost the vision?

A good sequel

Not quite as good as the first book, "Time and Time Again", but a nice sequel wrapping up the plot arc. I do like Si. i wish there was a book from the point of view of "the Jadda Girl".
