Acerca de esta escucha

First in the New York Times–bestselling series and winner of the Edgar Award: A new rabbi in a small New England town investigates the murder of a nanny.

David Small is the new rabbi in the small Massachusetts town of Barnard’s Crossing. Although he’d rather spend his days engaged in Torah study and theological debate, the daily chores of synagogue life are all-consuming—that is, until the day a nanny’s body is found on the rain-soaked asphalt of the temple’s parking lot.

When the young woman’s purse is discovered in Rabbi Small’s car, he will have to use his scholarly skills and Talmudic wisdom—and collaborate with the Irish-Catholic police chief—to exonerate himself and find the real killer.

Blending this unorthodox sleuth’s quick intellect with thrilling action, Friday the Rabbi Slept Late is the exciting first installment of the beloved bestselling mystery series that offers a Jewish twist on the clerical mystery, a delightful discovery for fans of Father Brown and Father Dowling or readers of Faye Kellerman’s suspense novels set in the Orthodox community.

Detective set in 1960 Conservative Jewish comunity

Would you listen to Friday the Rabbi Slept Late again? Why?

I might in a few years,

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was what I had predicted a while ago.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The Conservative rabbi asserts that in Judaism their is no life after death. This is not only blatantly untrue he also frequently uses this carter to preach.

Amazingly Smart Story!

I'd seen this series on bookshelves in my (much) younger days, and decided to try the first volume when it showed up in a sale. What a great crime story, plus a real education in Judiasm. I only thought I knew about the workings of the Jewish faith...fascinating on both counts! Next up, Saturday the Rabbi Went Hungry.

Rabbi Small

I have been a Rabbi Small fan for over 40 years! Audiobooks' reading of Harry Kemelman's first Bernard's Crossing's Rabbi and Hugh Lanigan is a delight!

Love it!

I have always been a fan of the Rabbi Small mysteries. They are well thought out and developed. So happy they are available through Audible.

They are worth getting acquainted with. They are timeless.

Very good little book!

Another interesting series from a few years back with clergy as crime solver. Well written and instantly caught me up
in this suburban community in the '60s. And.. narrated by the compelling George Guidall (whom I love!).. a winner.

Have number 2 in the series in my line up!

wonderful old fashioned mystery

I love Rabi Small mysteries. they have all the charm of classical mysteries, and all the wonderful surplus of Jewishness at it's light and good.

Good book

A great performance by the narrator. The overall story line was good but the ending could have been better.
