Joe Jameson has done a masterful narration of this engaging and entertaining story. Thoroughly enjoyable.

One of the best

Georgette Heyer’s Regency and Georgian books are my favorites and this is one of the best. The Marquess of Alerstoke is a bored and indolent aristocrat whose world is turned upside down by Frederica and her family. The ensuing results are funny and touching.

The Best

I’ve been enamored with Georgette Heyer novels since I was a teenager, and I never tire of reading them or having them read to me. This is a particular favorite. The entire story is enchanting, the characters so well created, the history exceptionally detailed, from beginning to end spellbinding. No one who reads this will be disappointed. She draws you in and keeps you there. Truly a classic.

Beautifully performed this is one my favourite Heyer stories. Pure joy from beginning to end.

The best historical rom-com ever !!!

I am a Georgette Heyer fangirl, I've read them all, and this one, this one is gloriously, satisfyingly, deeply, delightfully amusing, and so very very well written. The characters are all people you'd want in your life; the situations are remarkable, fun, intriguing, and realistic for the times. The male main character starts as an arrogant, entitled, playboy, and thru perfectly believable twists and turns and experiences, he matures into a man with a good attitude, plentiful humor, and a loving disposition toward an entire family of children who are being nurtured by their oldest sister. There's a runaway marriage, not involving our two lead characters, there's a genius child who provides much fun in the story. There's a big male dog with a female dog name, lots of strange and wonderful happenstances that occur in a big family that has lost its parents and relies on a 20 year old sister to make all the decisions. This is such a FUN story! And it has a perfectly happy ending.

Favorite story brilliantly narrated

Joe Jameson is one of the best voice actors I've heard on Audible. Each character is distinct, infused with personality, and none grate on your ears. Few things are more disappointing than hearing a favorite story marred by a sub-par performance, or that one voice you just dread hearing. Thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end!

I didn't love having a man read, but I soon became used to it. The story and characters were fresh and entertaining.

Love this story!

Strong woman, arrogant man who grows in humility and caring, humor and lots of period colloquialisms. What’s not to like?

Fun story

Characters including the children and young adults were all interwoven into the story well. I enjoyed the historical aspects of ballooning, bikes, steam engines and such as well as the romance.

Delightful

A thoroughly enjoyable story with hilarious dialogue. The narrator brought the characters to life beautifully!
