Their stories and insights are invaluable to today's Church, so the hope for this series is that it would provide an entry point for modern Christians to hear from these ancient witnesses and to be built up by them.

A bit hard to follow in audio

There is a LOT of information, only a little of which was previously know to me. Sometimes I managed to keep it all on my mental desktop, but if my attention and concentration wavered due to driving exingencies, I had to go back and re-listen. Sometimes over and over, and sometimes I had to stop and listen to something else that I could follow with divided attention. That said, the book was scholarly, included lots of primary source material, and if I had been reading it visually rather than listening, I probably would have rated it higher
