Inspiring!

i was riveted from beginning to end. I was sorry to finish, but anxious to get out on the trail.

Wonderful long distance hiking story

What an inspiration to listen to this story while recovering from a total knee replacement surgery. The women’s age, grit, and determination in hiking the John Muir Trail offered me hope and encouragement to be back on the trail as soon as possible!

An inspiring and brilliantly told memoir

Joan writes a testament to the strength of women and the beauty of nature. As a 50 something woman who loves hiking but also likes a shower and bed at the end of the day, her story makes me wonder . . . Could I?

Great story

Enjoyable listen for non-hikers. Pretty amazing! I think I enjoyed the details of the daily hikes. Very descriptive so it went slow but I think that was the point! Good listen.

You really feel as if you’re right there with them as they experience treacherous trails, the unpredictable elements of nature and its extraordinary beauty as well as fascinating encounters with characters along the way…
Joan’s own personal ability to access the courage deep within to keep going despite all of the obstacles (internal and external) is inspiring and remarkable!
The reader truly gets to experience the legendary John Muir Trail through the author’s first hand personal journey… Highly recommend!

Wonderful book to listen with complex analysis of human emotion and descriptions of physical strength and power of human .

I enjoyed the camaraderie between the women and the details at the beginning of each chapter of exactly how far they had come.

I like an adventure, and it was a great adventure to imagine in my head while I listened to the story

Overuse of adjectives

I get that it’s often hard to describe an experience and beauty but sometimes simple description is better than sounding as if you swallowed a dictionary.
