The vocal fry

Loved the story. It was, at times, hard to listen to the vocal fry the author has. Someone else should do the reading.

Reading a female hiker journey that is so much like mine was inspiring. Can’t wait to get back on trail.

Enjoyable

I love books about adventure, personal growth and introspection. Also, I prefer books that are read by the author. So many narrators seem to just be reading the words and having a pleasing voice is not nearly as important to me as hearing from someone who has actually lived the experience.

Title more about personal demons than the Wonderland atrail

I am finding more and more of these books deceptively about the hike. I wanted to experience the Wonderland adventure but the book deals more with personal pain reflected on during the hike. My heart goes out the the author and I am happy for her learning to love herself. I have been there, now I am grateful for God's beauty in the wilderness and can enjoy that beauty regardless of the crumbling society around me. This author is talented and I hope to read more uplifting adventures from her in the future.

a brutally honest story

naked honesty in the portrayal of a life fully lived, the beauty and the difficulty. heavy, heartfelt conversations of sorrow and loss are mixed with the joy of freedom and friendships and self-actualization. I have been wanting to read this book for a wile but needed to wait for it to be in an audio format. well worth the wait and the listing.

this book was about the author but had enough hiking in it to keep me interested, by end of the book you really feel you know her

Brave Woman

I like to hear inspiring stories about brave woman! Although there’s a little lack of passion on the narration that makes it a little slow. Sometimes I got confused with the timeline, but I got used with time.

she wasn't alone!

first of all, I was expecting a story about finding herself while walking the trail. nope, not at all. what I got was a lady desperately trying to find her feelings so she had a lot of sex throughout the book. She wasn't alone. She was always hooking up with some guy or ran into people on the trail. She didn't really write about her alone part, except meeting some bear cubs. I am disappointed that I wasted book credit on this. I hate giving true stories 1 stars but in this case, it's only because it's not what I thought I was getting. also, maybe a professional narrator would have made it more interesting in some parts. oh bummer to me!

Awful.

Get a pro to read it. The voice of the author did not bring anything that made the story any more tolerable. Her parents give her every advantage, love, a good home….which she neglects while her parents are away, and then blames her Mom for all of her problems. Typical. Her Mom gets sick and she isn’t there when her Mom needs her. Let’s not even get into her other life choices. Excessive drinking and random sex….. This book was supposed to be about hiking. I quit listening after an hour. Note to self….listen to the 4-5 minute sample before buying. Save your money!
